Miss the good old bands

Posted by austenfan at 12/15/2012 08:06:00 AM 0 comments
The other day, I was looking around Youtube and decided to look at some videos from Fall Out Boy. Whatever happened to make them decide to split up, anyway? Everyone loves them! Well, not everyone... but still. Haha.

I don't know what is it about some bands, but they really do make the audience feel like bobbing their heads along with their feel-good music and dancing along to their tunes. Maybe it's because of the roland drums at Musician's Friend that they use? Or are they just too enthusiastic about their music that the listeners can't help  but rock along with them? :)

It's hard when you have so many deadlines to meet in such a short amount of time! On the other hand, I get some kind of adrenaline rush whenever I have to finish things in a hurry. I'm not so sure about the quality of my work when I do it really quickly, though. Haha.

How about you? Do you work better when you're trying to meet deadlines in a short amount of time? Do you prefer to finish your tasks in advance?

Almost everyone that I know are aware that I'm not fond of doing athletic things. By that, I mean any kind of sports and physical activity that exerts too much effort. I do admit, though, that some of the sports do look fun! Like biking or cycling, for example. Whenever I watch cyclists, it feels so carefree and effortless and it makes me want to go biking too. The problem is, I don't know how. Yes, I never learned how to bike when I was a kid. Haha. If I want to learn how to bike, I would probably have to buy hitch bike racks for my bike. Now, that would give me the complete biking experience! A real, professional cyclist!

Gifts and parties

Posted by austenfan at 12/15/2012 07:38:00 AM 0 comments
It's the middle of the month of December and parties are everywhere! It really is a happy season when people get to relax and have some fun away from the stress of school and work. Of course, that doesn't mean that the real meaning of the season should be forgotten. It's not about the parties and the gifts, but what we should feel and how this season should inspire us to be closer to one another!

Happy Christmas season, everyone!

Major house cleaning coming up!

Posted by austenfan at 11/22/2012 11:08:00 PM 0 comments
A major house cleaning is really a must for me! My room is just too messy that sometimes I keep having to search my room for an item that I need since I can't find it easily. Also, I think there's something wrong with my kitchen! It's not draining properly.

Do you know a lot about kitchen sinks? Do you have any idea on why my drainage won't work properly? It still drains the liquid, but at a slower pace than usual. I really need help here. Maybe I need to look at some home living magazines so that I can become better at these domestic chores. :)

I'm looking right now an empty can of chips and I can't help but think of how good it tasted like when I was eating it. Haha. I guess this is the reason why my so-called diet isn't working at all. I'm getting addicted to eating chips and sweets here. Yes, I know, it's very fattening and that I shouldn't eat it if I don't want to gain weight. They're too delicious to resist, though! :)

Cheese flavored potato chips! Yum! I'll get more of you when I stop by the grocery!

Starting a band?

Posted by austenfan at 11/22/2012 10:58:00 PM 0 comments
I don't have any close friends who are in a band, so I don't really know anything about the basics of forming a band. I don't even know all the instruments that you need in order to form a band! All I know is that you need to have a vocalist, a guitarist, and a drummer and you can have your band!

For all of you who are in a band, it's a good thing that there are a lot of online shops right now that specializes in musical instruments. You can even find a guild f 212 at Musicians friend. Just search for the instruments that you like there, you might find that they're on sale too!

Happy instrument hunting! :)

Getting really sleepy...

Posted by austenfan at 11/22/2012 10:51:00 PM 0 comments
These past couple of weeks have been my most tiring weeks so far. That's why I don't think I've had any decent amount of sleep in a long time. By decent, I mean at least eight hours. Haha.

When I was in college, not getting enough sleep was just fine with me. It's nothing out of the ordinary. But now, as I get older, I'm beginning to realize how precious my sleeping hours are. As much as possible, I don't want to give them up. Of course, that's hard to do especially if you're addicted to the internet (like me). For example, right now, I should be sleeping, but here I am still typing away my blog entry. :)

After work

Posted by austenfan at 11/22/2012 10:46:00 PM 0 comments
What are the things you and your friends do after work to take the stress off and just relax and have a good time? Do you dine out at some fancy restaurant, watch a movie, or look for ace karaoke machines so that you can sing to your heart's content?

It doesn't matter much to me whatever it is that we do, as long as we get to have fun. Of course, it's much better if we wouldn't have to pay much for it. Haha.

Of course, if you have any other unconventional suggestions for how to relax after working hours, feel free to comment here!

When was the last time that you joined a blog giveaway? I can't remember when I last joined, but I remembering winning two books from it! Yes, you really can win something from the internet. Haha.

I think I need to start blog hopping to search for giveaways again. It's a cool way to discover new blogs while at the same time getting a chance to win prizes too!

Gift suggestions!

Posted by austenfan at 11/20/2012 10:44:00 PM 0 comments
I'm no good at gift suggestions, but since I just celebrated my birthday recently, maybe I could think of some things that I think people would like to receive. Here they are:

1. Books - For me, this is always a good choice, as long as I like the story of the book. Pick anything with a touch of romance and I'll love it. Haha.

2. Something Useful - It depends on the person's personality and hobbies. If your friend is studying veterinary medicine, then try looking at some veterinary graduation gifts. I'm sure your friend will appreciate it!

3. Chocolates/Cakes/Sweets - Everyone loves these, I think. :)

4. Anything that's personal!

I need warmth!

Posted by austenfan at 11/20/2012 10:28:00 PM 0 comments
I'm really not used to the cold weather that I'm experiencing now. In a way, I like it because it's different from what I'm used to. But at the same time, I miss the warm weather back home where I don't have to wear thick jackets just to survive the chilly temperature outside.

It's not even winter here yet, but I'm already shivering from the low temperature! I should really start getting used to this. I'm excited to experience snow, but I hope I can take the really cold weather! :)

Need to save up!

Posted by austenfan at 11/02/2012 09:29:00 PM 0 comments
What ever happened to my big plan of saving up? The more clothes and shoes that I see, the more I seem to forget my 'saving up' plan. Haha. I need to exercise self-restraint!

What do you do to stop yourself from impulse buying? Some would say not to bring your credit card or too much cash. How about when you really plan on buying something, but don't want to overdo it and buy excessive amounts of clothing/items that you don't really need? For example, before you buy silver coins, think hard before doing it. Do you really need it? Do you just want it?

I hope I get to practice what I'm talking about right now for tomorrow's shopping spree! Haha.

Here comes the weekend!

Posted by austenfan at 11/02/2012 09:23:00 PM 0 comments
Finally! It feels like I've been waiting for such a long time for the weekend to come! It doesn't help that most of my friends have been enjoying their weekends since yesterday. Haha.

I've got lots of activities lined up for this weekend, so I better start getting some sleep soon. I still need to catch up on my sleeping time for all those nights I stayed up late and got up early.

What are your plans for the weekend? Do you intend to go anywhere special or just stay at home and get some much needed rest and relaxation?

For nursing and med students...

Posted by austenfan at 10/28/2012 12:16:00 AM 0 comments
If you're studying for a degree in the medical field, then you'll probably be wearing scrubs later on. Whenever I see actors wearing scrubs on TV, I always think they look cute. Then again, I don't know if that has something to do with the scrubs they wear or if the actors themselves are just plain ute. Haha.

I'm not sure about the specifics when it comes to scrubs, but if ever you might need it, then you can buy plus size scrubs here. I wonder how the actors feel when they wear scrubs. Do they think its dorky? Or do they feel all serious and intelligent whenever they wear it? I guess I have to be an actor myself to find out! :)

Tired and sleepy

Posted by austenfan at 10/28/2012 12:10:00 AM 0 comments
Have you ever experienced feeling tired and sleepy at the same time, yet unable to sleep just yet? If you've ever been a college student, then you probably know what I mean. It sucks when that happens, right?

That's how I'm feeling right now. I think I'll be sleeping in a few minutes, though, once I finish the things I need to do. Anyway, what do you do to keep yourself awake while finishing your tasks? Let's keep drinking coffee out of the discussion, since that what I usually do. Haha. If you have any suggestions, please tell me!

I really need to do my laundry soon or I might start getting unhygienic. By laundry, I mean clothes and bedcovers! If only I had this bella notte bedding, I won't change my sheets even after a month! Haha. If my bed looks like that, I would probably make sure that no speck dirt ever touches it!

Anyway, I might just do the laundry tomorrow. I'm too tired to do anything aside from looking around the internet.

Have you heard? The new season of Vampire Diaries is out! Can't wait to see it!

Good chick flicks

Posted by austenfan at 10/07/2012 11:43:00 PM 0 comments
Watching chick flicks has got to be one of the most relaxing ways to pass time, particularly when you're stressed about something. It makes you laugh, while at the same time, making you feel all girly, romantic, and optimistic for true love. Haha.

I know. That sounded cheesy, but what can I do? I love love stories! :) I'm about to watch The Ugly Truth and Crazy, Stupid Love. I've heard good things about them. I hope they're as good as the reviews!

If you're a fan of romantic comedy movies, then maybe you'll have a few favorite movies to share?

Earphones or speakers?

Posted by austenfan at 9/30/2012 04:43:00 PM 0 comments
Whenever you watch movies using your laptop, which do you prefer, hearing it on the speakers or using your earphones? For me, it depends on the situation. There are times when I'm too lazy and just want to lie down while watching. In that case, I need to use the speakers. Sometimes, though, when the audio quality is too low, I need to use my earphones to understand what's happening in the show/movie.

How about you? Which do you prefer? Of course, it you bought your new akg headphones at musicians friend just days before, you'd probably want to use that to check if it works as good as it looks. I guess it really depends on the person's personality. If you want your audio to be really loud, then go with speakers!

Enjoy your movie marathon!

Blogroll update

I might update my blogroll soon. If you want to be included in it, just leave me a comment. I'll check if our blogs have the same theme, and I'll add your blog to the list. Of course, it would be much appreciated if you would include my blog to your blog list too!

It's been quite a long time since I've done any major changes to this blog's look. When I manage to see some new, cool themes, I hope I can do some minor blog appearance changes.

Don't forget those blog addresses!

Must sleep early

Posted by austenfan at 9/23/2012 09:53:00 PM 0 comments
I should really start sleeping early during Sundays. That is, if I don't want to be late for work the next day. Traffic's just so bad on Mondays that I need to leave earlier than usual to get to work on time. Our company has its own time and attendance software, so I can't really cheat if I get there late. Not that I was planning to cheat, anyway! Haha. I'll just try to wake up earlier than I'm used to.

How about you? Do you always get to work on time? Do you sleep early during Sundays, too? Although I'm here talking about sleeping early on Sundays, I rarely get to do that. I always end up sleeping around midnight (or even later). I'm not really sure why. Maybe I'm just making the most out of my weekend. :)

Loving travel blogs!

Posted by austenfan at 9/23/2012 09:48:00 PM 0 comments
Lately, I've been browsing several travel blogs. Without noticing it, I end up spending a lot of time reading their blog entries about their experiences in going to different parts of the country, and even overseas! Then, I end up wishing I'll be able to travel to all those places too, someday. :)

Wow, it must be nice to just be able to book a flight and go wherever it is you want to go without a care about your work schedule and the expenses. Haha. I know that doesn't really happen in real life to normal people like me, though. Still, most of the time, even celebrities are too busy to squeeze in a vacation in between their shootings and promotional tours. I guess it really is hard to just travel whenever you just feel like you want to. I shouldn't feel too bad. :)

By the way, if you own a travel blog, give me the link and I'll try to drop by. I love reading all about travel adventures!

Gift ideas!

Posted by austenfan at 9/23/2012 09:34:00 PM 0 comments
Christmas is coming soon! If you're one of those who don't want to get caught up in the madness of Christmas shopping, then you better start planning the gifts you'll be giving to your family and friends! As I always say, it doesn't matter how much it costs. You just need to make sure that it's personal so the one receiving it will appreciate it.

If you're looking for something to give to a girl friend, then why don't you check out these pandora charms? They're just too cute! Any girl who likes to dress up will absolutely love them! I think the accessories will go well with any type of clothes!

Check out the site and tell me if you like those cute accessories too!

Easy recipes

Posted by austenfan at 9/23/2012 09:16:00 PM 0 comments
I'm happy to say that I've already cooked my first ever dish weeks ago (chicken adobo). However, I did that with the help of my parents so that doesn't completely count as my own doing, right?

Anyway, I need to learn how to cook within the week! Do you know of some easy and quick to do recipes? For a beginner like me, I think it would be wise to just stick with the basics and not plan on cooking those dishes I see at Master Chef on TV. That would be too ambitious. Haha.

If you find a site that has some easy recipes on it, let me know!

Are you addicted to online shopping?

Posted by austenfan at 9/22/2012 12:22:00 AM 0 comments
I'm not. However, I can see how some people might get addicted to it. The promise of not having to go out of your house to purchase things. Now, that really is convenient. You can have your goods delivered to your doorstop. Some of these online shops can even have it delivered it to you for free! Pretty useful, right?

You can buy cigars online or even get that much-awaited, newly released gadget at your favorite online shop! This saves you the time and effort of having to go to the store. Also, you're sure that there are available stocks left! :)

Are you an online shopper? How has your experience been so far?

Watson's sale!

Posted by austenfan at 9/21/2012 11:36:00 PM 0 comments
I was looking around the internet, scouring for upcoming mall sales when I saw that there will be a 3 day sale this weekend on Watson's stores. I'm not sure if this is available nationwide. I hope it is, though. This sale wil really come in handy as I have a lot of toiletries to buy.

Do you know a way to stay updated on current sales happening here? If you do, then please tell me how! If you own a website that talks about sales, then I'll be glad to subscribe to your feed! :)

Happy shopping, everyone!

Home decor

Posted by austenfan at 9/16/2012 11:11:00 PM 0 comments
When I'm financially able to buy my own house, I'd like to decorate it to look as nice and welcoming as possible. I don't know how I'm supposed to do that, though. Should I hire an interior designer to take care of it for me, since I don't really know much about home decor? Should I decorate it on my own to make it more personal?

I'm not sure, though I am really considering trying to find indoor floor fountains to add to my planned home decorations. I think it gives off quite a relaxing atmosphere to a house.

What do you think? Is it a good idea? :)

Posted by austenfan at 9/16/2012 11:05:00 PM 0 comments
To tell you the truth, I don't know what kinds of food have olive as one of their ingredients, with the exception of pizza. However, I find pictures of them really cute and tasty. Yes, I have this sort of fascination over olives. There's a reason why, but I'm not gonna tell. Haha.

Do you have any idea on what other types of food go well with olives? Comment, please! I'd like to try them. :)

For people on the move

Posted by austenfan at 9/16/2012 10:52:00 PM 0 comments
Are you planning to move into a new place? That can be a pretty hard task. You would have to worry over a lot of things, not the least of which is packing your things. It's hard enough for me to clean my room, so I can imagine how much harder it is to pack away your belongings in a whole unit.

You'd probably need to prepare your scissors and packing materials if you're going to have some packing done. When you start packing, you may want to consider getting a friend to help you out since it could take long, particularly if you're a slow cleaner (like me). Haha.

Also, remember to keep your patience when gettings things packed up and organized! :)

Hair problems

Posted by austenfan at 9/16/2012 10:23:00 PM 0 comments
I have no idea what to do with my hair. That's not quite right, actually. I have a lot of ideas on what I want to do with my hair. I just don't know which one I should pick. Haha.

Earlier this year, I had my hair colored. Now, the hair color is almost halfway the length of my hair, so I'm thinking I want to have it colored again. On the other hand, I want to have a hair rebonding treatment too! However, I can't have my hair rebonded and colored at the same time or else it'll get damaged, based from what I heard.

Now, I'm thinking of getting a keratin treatment to smoothen my hair. Ever tried or heard of it? What can you say about it?

Must shop for shoes!

Posted by austenfan at 9/09/2012 09:36:00 PM 0 comments
I really need to buy a new pair of shoes. I've had mine for a long time and I'm not sure how much longer it'll last. I'm not too particular when it comes to shoes, but I would definitely prefer if it would be comfortable to wear without being too pricey. I don't want to have to look for the best heel pain relief after wearing it for a whole day. Also, it wouldn't hurt if the shoes can go with most of what I have in my wardrobe. So, I guess vibrant colored shoes are out, then? Haha.

What shoe brand would you recommend? Nothing too expensive, please!

Wattpad reads

Posted by austenfan at 9/09/2012 09:31:00 PM 0 comments
I've recently discovered Wattpad and it was such a pleasant surprise. I would never have guessed that there are so many talented writers out there who have these unique and interesting stories to tell. Some of the stories I've read so far are even better than some of the published books out there. I could be biased, though, since I have these types of stories that I like. Haha.

Try checking out that site sometime, too! You might find a story you'll like. :)

Credit cards are a must?

Posted by austenfan at 8/21/2012 08:47:00 PM 0 comments
Before, I never imagined myself getting a credit card. If you've read Sophie Kinsella's Shopaholic series, then you probably know my reasons for not wanting to get a card. Haha. But now, I'm beginning to change my mind. I must admit that using credit cards does have some advantages.

You won't need to have cash with you all the time. You can use your credit card whenever you need to make a new purchase. Then, there are the gadget installment promos. You can buy a laptop, then just pay it in an installment basis. Pretty neat, right?

I don't know much about how to choose the best credit card, though. You could try reading about spendsmart mastercard or some other type of credit card in the internet. However, be sure to take in consideration your needs and lifestyle when choosing a card. That way, you'll maximize your use of your chosen card!

The Facebook Timeline

Posted by austenfan at 8/21/2012 08:37:00 PM 0 comments
What's up with everybody complaining about the Facebook timeline? Sorry, but I just don't get it. Your profiles have been switched to the timeline mode. So?

I don't mean to sound rude or argumentative, but I just fail to see what's so wrong with the new Facebook timeline that I even read from some of my friends' wall posts that they'll stop using Facebook because of it.

If you're one of those against the timeline, care to share what you hate about it? Honestly, I'm curious. :)

Love concerts?

Posted by austenfan at 8/11/2012 11:29:00 PM 0 comments
If you have, then you probably know all about the instruments and equipment needed whenever bands are on gigs/concerts. As for me, since I don't usually attend concerts/live performances, I don't know anything about  these things. I've never even seen a fishman loudbox mini before. I only know that it's used as an amplifier.

The one and only concert I've been to is Maroon 5's last year. And I wouldn't have gone to that one if I'm not obsessed about Adam Levine. Haha.

Have you gone to a lot of concerts before? Which one's your favorite?

Weekend, finally!

Posted by austenfan at 8/11/2012 11:48:00 AM 0 comments
It feels like I've been waiting for the weekend for a very, very long time. There's just something about rainy days which gets me down, I guess.

Then again, maybe it's because I can only watch my beloved Korean dramas and anime series at home (since I don't have a laptop at the boarding house). :)

Anyway, there's a relatively new Prince of Tennis series (released earlier this year), which, by the way, is entitled "New Prince of Tennis". Yeah. Go figure. Haha.

Happy weekend, everyone!

Maroon 5 in Manila on September!

Posted by austenfan at 8/06/2012 12:42:00 AM 0 comments
I was able to watch their concert last year. Too bad I won't be able to go this year. Why? I don't have the money for the ticket and even if I did have it, I heard that the tickets (with the good seats) are all sold out. I guess I'll just catch them when they come back here again (hopefully).

I just realized that I don't know much about the band even though I know most of their songs. For example, I don't know the kind of guitar they use. Is it a squier vintage modified telecaster sh? I just know that their music sounds good. :)

How about you? Do you know a lot about your favorite group/band?

Who's on Twitter?

Posted by austenfan at 8/06/2012 12:36:00 AM 0 comments
Most of my close friends aren't. I wonder why. Twitter seems to be more of a celebrity thing than something ordinary people (like me) would spend time on. I think it's a pretty cool site, but I just don't find myself inclined to post updates there often.

I should probably keep my profile private so I'd only read tweets of my close acquaintances and have my tweets be read only by people I actually know. But as I said before, most of my close friends aren't on Twitter so what's the point?

Twitter just doesn't do it for me (as of the moment). Maybe if I get a tweet from Adam Levine, I'll be more active in it. Haha.

TV problems

Posted by austenfan at 8/06/2012 12:17:00 AM 0 comments
I really want to replace the TV I have in my room with a new one. The screen's so small that I can't read the subtitles whenever I watch Korean dramas. Plus, the picture quality of the shows aren't good, either. Hmm, I should probably blame our cable provider for that. Haha.

Anyway, when I get to save up and manage to have some spare cash, I want to buy a new TV for my room. I wonder how much it would cost. Do I need to buy a mounting bracket for tv too? I guess that depends on the available space in my room. I'd better do some cleaning up first and check where I can place it.

Then again, it's not that urgent. I'll probably buy a new tv months (or maybe years) from now. The one I have now still works fine. :)

Must save up!

Posted by austenfan at 8/06/2012 12:06:00 AM 0 comments
If I want to be able to buy a new laptop soon (and I really want to), then I need to start getting serious on managing my finances properly. I have to stop spending my money on things that I don't need (much).

Hmm, how do I go about doing this, anyway? Some of the ways I know of are to:

  1. Stop dining out. Well, not really stop, but to eat in cheaper places. :)
  2. Temporarily stay away from cinemas. Movie tickets are just too pricey right now. And let's not talk about the popcorn and drinks!
  3. Make a list of the things I spend my money on. I used to do this before, but laziness stepped in. Haha. I guess I need to start doing it again.
Fighting! :)

Celebrity houses

Posted by austenfan at 8/05/2012 11:39:00 PM 0 comments
Have you ever seen an episode of MTV Cribs or any one of those shows which features the homes of popular celebrities? Aren't you just amazed at how fabulous their houses are? Seriously, if I have a house like one of those, I'd probably stay at home most of the time. Haha.

Even their bathrooms are so spacious - maybe even double the size of my bedroom. Some of the houses even have a vintage bath tub, which totally complements the style of their bathrooms.

This is why I always enjoy reading magazines that cover these celebrity houses. Yes, it makes me envious, but that's only normal, I guess. :)

Have you seen pictures of celebrity houses? Which one's your favorite?

KDrama bug

Posted by austenfan at 8/05/2012 10:33:00 PM 0 comments
Yes, I've caught the KDrama bug again. I find myself watching episode upon episode of this Korean series, without any regard to the time, even if it's way past midnight. This is what I hate when watching these Korean dramas. You won't be able to help yourself from watching it until you finish it.

But then again, that probably goes for all the other series that I watch, not just for KDramas particularly. Haha. The problem lies with me and how I easily get affected by the shows that I watch.

I'm off to find more KDramas to get addicted to, then. I know, I know. I should stop. I will... after another episode or so. :)

Olympics season!

Posted by austenfan at 7/29/2012 09:49:00 PM 0 comments
The Olympics 2012 has begun! Are you excited for it? I confess that I'm not much of a sports buff, but I do enjoy watching a tennis match from time to time (especially if Nadal is playing). Tennis is a pretty interesting game to watch for me. Maybe because I understand the rules (mostly, not all of it), unlike boxing which just leaves me feeling completely clueless on how the winner is selected. Haha.

Have you already seen a lot of games from the Olympics? Have you seen the players? Were any of them wearing titanium sports necklace? I heard that it has a lot of benefits for athletes! I haven't tried wearing it, though, so I can't really speak from experience. :)

Diet, what ever happened to you?

I've been on an eating spree (if there is really such a term) this past weeks. For someone who claims to be on a diet, that's pretty bad. Actually, it is really bad. Haha.

What can I do? There are just too many interesting types of food to try! It doesn't help that the number of food blogs seem to be increasing exponentially. All these scrumptious pictures of cakes and other sweets... I just can't resist them!

Anyway, do you have a food blog? Give me the link and I'll try to visit back. :)

Late night munches

This is bad for my weight, I know. I can't seem to help myself, though.

This bread + iced tea/strawberry juice combo is just too good! :)

Play music?

Posted by austenfan at 7/09/2012 12:03:00 AM 0 comments
I love music. I like listening to all kinds of songs - pop, rock, mellow, alternative - as long as I like the melody and/or the lyrics. Creating music, though? That's a completely different story.

I'm not really familiar with musical terms, instruments, and anything involved in composing songs. So if you ask me if I've seen the latest model of the ac15hw1, I'd probably have nothing to tell you about it. Ask anyone who belongs in a band about it, though, and a minute's probably not enough for them to finish discussing it. Haha.

Who says you have to be an expert to love music, anyway? :)

Online shopping

Posted by austenfan at 7/08/2012 11:58:00 PM 0 comments
I haven't tried online shopping before, but I've heard you can really save more if you choose to buy some stuff online that buying them here.

The only problem is the shipping, and of course, the shipping fees. If you're just trying to buy a book, then the shipping fees would probably be higher than your book's costs. Haha. You better just request for it from Fully Booked, then. :) Yep, Fully Booked. Still the best book store in the country for me. :)

Starting the preparations?

Posted by austenfan at 7/08/2012 11:44:00 PM 0 comments
Remember how we all get panicked when the holiday season starts and we find ourselves wondering what gifts should we get for our loved ones? Well, why not start thinking of it now? That way, you'll know what would make the perfect gift and you won't have to rush in getting them. Haha.

Maybe you could even buy holiday cards as early as now. I think those will be much cheaper if you buy them months before the holiday season.

What do you think? It'll definitely save you both time and money. :)

Facebook apps, do you still use them?

Posted by austenfan at 7/08/2012 11:40:00 PM 0 comments
There was a time in my life when I got addicted to playing games on Facebook - Mafia Wars, CityVille, and all those other new apps that just keep on popping up. Back then, I always got this rush when I see my "energy" being refreshed so that I can once again continue with the game..

Looking back, though, I can't understand how I got so addicted to these games. Now, I'd rather just look at my news feed and get updated on what's currently happening with my friends.

That's how trends come and go, then.

I've never been the sporty type. It's not for lack of trying, believe me. I guess me and sports just don't get along well together. Haha.

So, don't expect there to be sports trophies bearing my name displayed in our house. Come to think of it, my parents aren't sporty either so I guess, there's no reason for us to have any sports trophies at all.

Is it really due to my innate lack of skills in sports, though? Or have I just not tried hard enough to be any good at it? For those of you who are good at sports, how did you came to be how you are now? Did it take a lot of practice and effort? Did it come naturally to you?

British accents = LOVE

Posted by austenfan at 7/01/2012 10:29:00 PM 0 comments
What is it with guys with British accents that turns every girl into a giggling teenager? Yes, I'm guilty of this too!

May it be a character in a book that I'm currently or a movie that I happen to see while switching channels, these British guys come across as someone... more attractive, I guess. Maybe it's because that's how the author of the book wants the readers to the character as. Maybe I'm just easily affected and persuaded to feel the same way. Haha.

Why all this talk about British accents, anyway? One word. Klaus.

Can't wait for the 4th season of Vampire Diaries!

Make up?

Posted by austenfan at 6/17/2012 10:26:00 PM 0 comments
Someone once told me that I should try putting on make-up, even just a little of it. Believe me, I also want try using make-up. The problem is, I don't know why. Yes, you heard that right. A twentysomething girl who doesn't know how to put on make-up. I can do the basics, though (I think) - like putting on some lipstick, a bit of eyeshadow. That's about it. I don't know anything about eyeliners, lining my eyebrows, and all those other make-up necessities

I don't even know what air brush make up is. Haha. Is it really weird of me to not know these things? I don't know why I haven't tried to learn them. It's not like I don't like wearing make up.

Hmm, I should probably start watching those 'How to Put On Make-up' Youtube videos online! Maybe it's time for me to be a girly girl. :)

I've laid out all these plans in my head - about things that I want to do, when to carry them, and how I can go about in achieving them. Yes, it feels good to have a goal - something that will keep you striving and moving forward. But occasionally, I find myself wondering if I can really push through with my plans? Are they realistic or am I just setting myself up for disappointment?

I don't mean to discourage myself or anyone who's reading this entry now (who might be feeling the same way). I know I can get where I want to be through patience and hard work. It's just hard to not think about these things sometimes.

Okay, back to positive thinking, then! I can do this! :)

Glasses or contacts?

Posted by austenfan at 6/17/2012 09:57:00 PM 0 comments
I should be wearing glasses. The problem is, I just don't feel comfortable whenever I wear them. I know, it just takes getting used to, but still, it's hard to go about your normal business when you feel a bit distracted so I often go without them.

What do you think about eyeglasses? Do you like wearing them or would you prefer to wear contacts? I haven't tried the latter, but it looks like it'll be even more uncomfortable to wear than eyeglasses. Have you tried wearing them? How does it feel?

Anyway, have you ever tried wearing glasses just because you wanted to see how you look like wearing them? I tried it before when I was a kid! Haha.

Can't wait for Vampire Diaries Season 4!

Posted by austenfan at 6/17/2012 09:43:00 PM 0 comments
Yes, I have finally caught up with the series! I finished watching the season finale of season 3 earlier, and now I can't stop wondering about what's going to happen in the next season.

That's still months away, though, so I need to find a new series to get occupied with. Any recommendations aside from New Girl and How I Met Your Mother? :)

Weight management... again.

Posted by austenfan at 6/12/2012 10:56:00 AM 0 comments
Sorry. I know I always talk about wanting to lose weight, but have never been able to do it very effectively. It's just so hard to stick with a diet plan! This time, though, I think I'll be off to a good start!

On top of trying to lose weight, I'm also cutting down on my food expenses... which means, the less food I buy, the less calories I consume, the less weight I gain, right? That's why, this time, I have a good feeling that my plan will be effective. :)

Our weighing balance ran out of battery, though, so I can't monitor my weight fluctuations yet. I hope I haven't gained much!

Here's to hoping that my weight loss + saving up plans push through!

Holidays = LOVE

Posted by austenfan at 6/12/2012 10:48:00 AM 0 comments
Who doesn't love holidays? That feeling of not having to go to work or school and being free to laze about all day doing whatever it is you want to do - that's just priceless! I dare you to disagree. Haha.

Also, holidays give me a chance to catch up on some of the TV shows that I've been meaning to watch.

All right then, Vampire Diaries, here I come. I've waited so long for you, so you better be good! :)

Starting a web site?

Posted by austenfan at 6/10/2012 11:28:00 PM 0 comments
Are you planning on starting a web site soon? Then, you better prepare and read all about it first. When I first started blogging, I was a bit overwhelmed. I didn't know anything about blog marketing and all that other blogging technical terms. All I know was that I wanted to write and that I wanted people to read what I write.
It didn't matter much to me if my blog was popular or not. I wanted people to come to my blog, but that is, if they're interested in what I have to say. Haha.

If you're thinking of starting your own site, you can always use a free web site creator. There are a lot of those available in the internet. Once you know more about web design, you can tweak your site or even make a new one using your own skills.

I've been blogging for about three years, but I still know only a little about the technical aspects of blogging. I just continue to post blog entries. Haha. I'll try to learn some blogging tricks, though, to improve this blog's design. :)

Rock of Ages!

Posted by austenfan at 6/10/2012 10:54:00 PM 0 comments
I can't wait to see Rock of Ages! I think it's going to be awesome. Imagine, Tom Cruise singing? I haven't heard that before, so that'll be something else. Haha.

There are so many good movies this year! This is bad for my savings. Haha.

New wardrobe?

Posted by austenfan at 6/10/2012 10:29:00 PM 0 comments
I want a new set of clothes! I'm kind of getting tired of wearing pants and shirts. Yes, they're comfortable, but they're not very fashionable, right? I've never been called fashionable before, but it'll be nice to give it a try. Haha.

However, every time I hear the sound of barcode scanners when I make a purchase, I can't help but feel a little bit guilty for how much I'm spending on things that I don't really need that much. I shouldn't think like that, though. I mean, clothing is a basic necessity, after all.

I'll try to spend as little as possible, anyway. I still want to save up for those amazing vacation trips that I want! :)

Any suggestions for my new wardrobe?

Hair color again?

Posted by austenfan at 6/03/2012 11:00:00 PM 0 comments
I need to have my hair colored again. The problem is, it would be kind of expensive I go to the salon to have it colored. I'm thinking of buying one of those hair color products, instead. Have you tried using one of those? Is it effective?

I might give it a try! :)

Need new clothes!

Posted by austenfan at 5/26/2012 09:51:00 PM 0 comments
I really should get new clothes. Not that I'm vain or anything, but I haven't bought a new shirt or pants for a long time. There's a reason for that, of course. You guessed it - cash. Haha. I know, I'll be able to get cheap clothes if I only know where to buy them. Believe me, I'll start looking for those cheap yet high (or medium) quality clothes!

What do you think of wearing custom tshirts? I would probably want to have one made if I ever get creative and inspired enough to think of something good to put on it. Haha. Have you had one made for you? What does it say?

I'm not good at these kinds of things so I might have to ask a friend what to put on it. :)

Missing writing

Posted by austenfan at 5/26/2012 09:37:00 PM 0 comments
Writing has always been a source of comfort for me. By just letting out my feelings and thoughts by way of words, I would feel a little bit better. I haven't been able to do as much of it as I would have liked to. That's probably because I work 5 days a week, and when I don't, I try to relax and do as little as possible. Haha.

I miss the days when I thought of being a professional writer. Well, not really a professional writer, more like someone who takes writing very seriously. How do you call a person like that, anyway? :)

I'm glad I still have my blog, though. It makes me remember my passion for writing, even if I only talk about weird and random things.

To save or invest?

Posted by austenfan at 5/20/2012 10:13:00 PM 0 comments
If you have some extra money tucked away, what should you do with it? Should you save it or invest it? Saving is definitely more safe and risk-free. However, if you invest it, you will have a chance of getting bigger returns.

You can also try other options, like getting an insurance. Before that, you should probably do a research on getting a universal life vs term life insurance. It's always better to know more about your other options before making a decision. Think it over carefully and see what you really need. This applies to other life decisions too, you should know. Haha.

Yeah, we all need to take better care of our finances and start being more mature about these things. :)

This past week had me thinking about the plans that I should make. I still don't have a definite career plan, just a general idea of what I want to do. I said to myself before that "I'm still young. I can figure out what I want to do as I go along. In the meantime, I'm just going to enjoy and see where this career path will lead me to."

Now, I think it's time to get more serious - to really be specific on what I want and have to do. I'm not saying that I'm gonna be all uptight and refuse to just let go and have fun. But, I have to make sure that the things I do will take me closer to my goals. I need to be focused and not forget what it is I have to do.

Whoa, I sound so serious. Haha. Anyway, here's to making plans and fulfilling all our goals!

Need a new look!

Posted by austenfan at 5/06/2012 10:45:00 PM 0 comments
Have you ever felt like you're tired of wearing the same type of clothes again and again? I'm not exactly tired of what I usually wear. I'm just wondering how I would look like if I were to change how I usually look. What if I wear hip hop clothing? Will I look good with it or will I just look weird? Haha.

Whenever I see outfits at the mall, I get wistful and think of how I would look if I were to wear a dress. I'm more of a shirt and pants kind of girl, so I'm sure people would be surprised to see me wearing it. I don't know whether it will be a good kind of surprise, though.

Anyway, before I think of getting a new look, I should probably check to see if it's within my budget. I need to save up first before I can get to wear all those cute dresses and skirts. And of course, I must get on with my weight loss plan! :)

Sunburnt again

Posted by austenfan at 5/06/2012 10:21:00 PM 0 comments
I thought I was on my way to getting my skin color back. The department summer team building ruined that. Haha. I'm not that bothered by it, though. It is the summer season, anyway, so it's only natural to get a tan.

I just hope it doesn't take too long to get my skin to lighten up again.

Do you know of any skin whitening products which are really effective? Something that can give me good results in, say, two weeks? If you do, then please let me know! I must get my skin color back! :)

Want to drive

Posted by austenfan at 4/29/2012 08:40:00 PM 0 comments
It must be fun to have your own car. To be able to hop into it whenever you feel like doing so and go for a spin around wherever it is you want to go to, now, doesn't that sound absolutely carefree and enjoyable?

Speaking of being mobile, I don't even know how to ride a bike! I would probably have to wear a motorcycle helmet even if it's just a bicycle since I'm really clumsy when it comes to these types of things (where you need to have balancing and coordination skills). Haha.

Do you know how to ride a bike? Is it really hard to learn, because it certainly looks so!

Done catching up with Gossip Girl!

Posted by austenfan at 4/29/2012 06:05:00 PM 0 comments
So I'm currently watching (or waiting for the video to load, really) Despicable B, which is the last aired episode for the show. Yay! I thought I was gonna have to let go of the show since I missed too many episodes. I'm glad I didn't, though. It's nice to hear the witty banter of the characters again, especially Dan and Blair's.

I just love seeing those two names together! Yeah, yeah. Call me a fangirl. I dare not deny. :)

Machines and bearings

Posted by austenfan at 4/22/2012 11:04:00 PM 0 comments
I admit, even though I'm an engineer, sometimes it's hard for me to visualize how machines and their parts work. So, if someone just mentions something about a linear bearing to me without any kind of illustration, I don't think I'd understand it. I know, I really need to study more about these things!

How about you? Are there some topics that you're just at a loss when they come up in your conversation with others? How does it feel? It's a bit frustrating, right?

Yeah, it can be irritating when people start talking about things that you don't know about. That's why it's better to stock up on your knowledge so you can avoid facing that kind of situation.

Posted by austenfan at 4/22/2012 10:50:00 PM 0 comments
So, how do you get your normal color back after going to the beach?
I'm asking because I don't think the "tanned" look is working out for me. Haha.

I'm sure you've had a similar experience before. So, how long did yours last?

Play the piano?

Posted by austenfan at 4/22/2012 09:03:00 PM 0 comments
When I was a child, I tried to learn how to play the piano. At first, I was so excited to actually own one, to be able to press the keys whenever I wanted to. However, as the lessons progressed, I grew tired of it. I decided to just learn it on my own.

Of course, nothing came out of that. I stopped practicing and later on, lost interest in it. Maybe it was because my keyboard wasn't as grand as Nord Keyboards. Maybe it was just that I became too focused on other things - like playing with girly toys. Haha.

How about you? Have you ever tried playing the piano? Are you any good at it?

Graduation nostalgia

Posted by austenfan at 4/22/2012 08:47:00 PM 0 comments
It's graduation season once again! All over Facebook, I see status updates about the joy of having surpassed five difficult years in the College of Engineering. I remember how I felt the same way years ago.

Congratulations to all the graduates!

Decluttering my desk

Posted by austenfan at 4/22/2012 02:42:00 PM 0 comments
Most of the time, papers are scattered all over my desk that you almost can't see the top of it. Yeah, that's how little my working space is. I refuse to say it's because of my lack of organizational skills. Haha. Seriously, though, I think I might need to get some industrial shelving to store all those important documents in.

Wow, that sounded really professional of me. :) Anyway, how do you declutter your own desk? Do you arrange all your papers into neat little piles? Do you just throw away those files that you think you don't need anymore?

I can't seem to let go of most of my papers, though. They all look pretty important to me. :)

Gossip Girl marathon

Posted by austenfan at 4/22/2012 01:56:00 PM 0 comments
I've missed a lot of Gossip Girl episodes since January and now, I'm doing a little Gossip Girl marathon to make up for it! It's weird how I thought that since I stopped watching it lately, I didn't care much about what happens in the show anymore; but after just seeing a few episodes, I'm totally into it again! Haha.

I guess I'll forever be a Gossip Girl fangirl, then. More DAIR scenes, please!

Wishing for more vacation trips

Posted by austenfan at 4/22/2012 12:54:00 PM 0 comments
It's been a week after my our Bohol trip, but I still find myself thinking and feeling nostalgic over it. I miss the calmness of Bohol. I miss lounging by the hotel's chairs and rustic tables while listening to the gentle lapping of the waves at the beach.

Now, I understand why some people get so addicted to traveling that they schedule trips with their friends whenever they could. I would do it too, if I had enough funds and free time! Traveling can indeed make one feel a different kind of happiness. It's like the more places you've had the chance to explore, the more you know of their culture, and the more you develop as a person. That sounds terribly sentimental, I know, but it's true.

I should start making a list of my "places to see" and also, start saving up for more of those trips!

Vacation's over.

Posted by austenfan at 4/09/2012 10:54:00 PM 0 comments
But I don't want it to end yet. To be able to put work on hold for a few more days, now, that would be awesome. Haha.

I'm sure there's a lot of things to do at the office, though. Let the work week begin, then!

For my friend

Posted by austenfan at 4/04/2012 11:46:00 PM 0 comments
One of my close friends is currently taking up medicine. Yes, she aims to be an excellent doctor someday. I'd say that day is just around the corner. :)

Anyway, I can't deny that medicine is definitely one of the hardest professions to master. You have to go through more or less ten years to be a full-fledged doctor. That's why if you can get help somewhere to make your study load a little lighter, then that would really be beneficial for you! I've read of a site that can help you with some of the medical concepts that you may need. They offer a consultant interview course to help you get a feel for how the real interview goes. If you want to become a teacher in the field of medicine someday, then you can also avail of their medical teaching course. Learning the concepts as a student and as someone who plans to be a teacher are two very different things so I think this course can help a lot. If your interests lies in becoming a leader, then why not try their medical management course? Their experts can help you get the skills that you'll need for management. To enhance your knowledge in the medical field, then the teach the teacher course can also be a great help!

Blogging to de-stress

Posted by austenfan at 4/04/2012 11:25:00 PM 0 comments
I wonder if, this time, blogging can help me de-stress. It has worked before, and I hope it will again this time.

These past months has been frustrating for me. I'm sorry, but I won't be talking about it here. I just wanna let this out. I'm hoping by writing this down, I'll feel a little better afterwards.

Writing has always been a good stress reliever for me, I'm not really sure why. There's something about constructing sentences. It doesn't matter how simple or complex they are or if they make any sense or not. Writing, for me, is just... fun. I can't think of any other word for it.

That's one of the reasons why I blog. :)

I need to get my laptop fixed.

Posted by austenfan at 4/01/2012 11:03:00 PM 0 comments
It's either that or I buy a new laptop. However, since I don't have enough money to get myself a laptop, I would have to content myself with borrowing or using my phone to connect to the internet. Anyway, I still don't know what kind of notebook to buy (when I have the money to buy it). Should I consider buying a netbook or should I try looking at some tablet laptops and see if anything catches my eye?

What do you think? I'm not much of a techie so I don't know the pros and cons of each type of gadget. Haha. As long as it's durable and speedy enough, then I'm fine with it! It doesn't have to look very stylish, as long as it does the job well. :)

Sweeter the second time around?

Posted by austenfan at 4/01/2012 10:02:00 PM 0 comments
Yep, anyone who reads this blog would know that I'm a big hopeless romantic. I love reading love stories. Call me cheesy, but I won't deny it - love stories make me feel all warm and happy inside. :) One of my most favorite themes on love stories is the kind where two people who got separated for some period of time find their way back to each other.

There's just something romantic about trying to fix things between two people and getting them back together - stronger and better than ever, right? I can imagine the guy searching for the girl, looking at different address signs, as he searches for the girl's house. Haha. I haven't read anything like that, though. I just made that one up.

How about you? What are your favorite love stories?

Sleepy weekends

Posted by austenfan at 4/01/2012 08:32:00 PM 0 comments
It seems like I've spent most of my time these past weekends curled up in bed and sleeping. With the daily stress at work, I won't even wonder as to the reason why I feel this way. Yep, it's nice to have some rest and relaxation, even if it is only for a couple of days.

What do you do during your free time on weekends? Do you try to get as much sleep as you can (like me)? Do you spend it doing all sorts of fun and exciting activities, like mountain climbing or going to the beach? :)

Need to learn more about IT?

Posted by austenfan at 4/01/2012 03:14:00 PM 0 comments
Without a doubt, IT is one of the most in-demand career fields out there. You just have to make a search in one of the many available job search engines, and you'd get a hundred or so results about jobs related to IT. So, if you're still thinking of what course to take in college, then why not try getting something that's IT-related? At least, you'll know you won't have a hard time looking for a job after you graduate. However, if you already have something set in your mind, then you better go with it then. :)

If you want to know more about IT, you only have to search the internet and the information's already available and ready for your perusal. Research on animation or ITIL Resources and see if they interest you. Personally, I don't know much about IT (although I've worked for some time in the industry), but I know that it's a very promising career for young professionals!

Will write more soon

Posted by austenfan at 3/31/2012 10:45:00 PM 0 comments
I hope I can. Well, I definitely plan to post more blog posts regularly. Let's just hope that I can get a new laptop or have my laptop fixed soon, so I'll once again be able to write frequently and as often as I'd like to. A little more free time would help too! Haha.

What's new with the blogging world, anyway? All I know about blogging right now is what I write about in this blog and my other blog (Where I Fangirl). Are there any new, cool widgets available? Fill me in, if you have any updates!

Love pets?

Posted by austenfan at 3/18/2012 11:33:00 PM 0 comments
Personally, I’m not a big fan of pets. It’s not that I don’t find them cute or anything – it’s just that I’m kind of scared of having one. Mostly, I’m scared of getting bitten by them. Although I’ve never had a pet before, I know how much other people adore spoiling their favorite dogs. I see pictures of my friends with their pets on Facebook all the time and I have to admit, they do look pretty sweet and cuddly.

To those of you who have their own pets, how do you take care of them? Having one probably requires a lot of time and effort since you have to ensure that they get the best care possible, if you want them to stay happy and energized all the time to play with you. From what I heard, pets demand regular attention too so you can’t just ignore them whenever you want to. Not only that, having a pet can be quite costly too. After all, pet supplies aren’t exactly cheap nowadays. If you want to get discounted pet supplies, then you better look for a petsmart coupon! That’ll surely help a lot, especially if you regularly buy pet supplies. Be sure to stay on the lookout for these coupons!

So, what kind of pet would you recommend to someone like me? I would probably like to have a little puppy, as they seem the cutest kind of pets for me. However, I have no idea what kind of puppy would be most fitting for someone like me. I think it’ll probably have to be tiny and cute – with a lively but sweet temperament! Yep, that would definitely suit my personality. Wow, I’ve never given much thought about having a pet before, but now that I’ve started to think about it, I think it’s gonna be pretty fun to have my own pet!

How about you? What kind of pet do you have? What is it like having one? I’m wondering because I want to find out if it’ll help relieve some of the daily stress that I get from work and my studies. Haha. Plus, it’s a great way to get a new hobby too. It sure beats staying in front of a laptop for hours, just checking out my friends’ updates on Facebook. I know, I don’t have much of a social life these days! Come on! Give me some recommendations on what kind of pet I should have!

And the diet is back.

Posted by austenfan at 3/11/2012 01:00:00 PM 0 comments
Yes, I'm slowly getting back on my fixation with losing weight. Maybe it's because most of my friends have been weight-conscious for some time now that I'm starting to think that I should be too. Whatever the reason is, I'm glad I finally had this sort of realization. Seriously, my eating habits can't really be deemed as healthy. At all.

Too many takeout dinners from McDonald's and Jollibee can do that to you. I don't have any other defense for myself other than the fact that they're much, much more convenient (although not necessarily cheaper).

With this decision to get serious with my diet plan, I hope I can accomplish two goals: to lose weight and to save more. Now, wouldn't that be lovely?

Ask the internet

Posted by austenfan at 3/04/2012 11:57:00 PM 0 comments
Have you ever stopped and thought about how dependent on the internet we've become? We use it for research, for information, and yes, even for entertainment! Actually, I'd say most of us uses it for entertainment!

Isn't it amazing, though? You just have to type a phrase on your favorite search engine, then you'd see a link (for example, one that says click here to read about lovegra), and you'll get to know all about the phrase that you're searching for.

Yep, there are actually a lot more uses for the internet other than connecting on Facebook or Twitter. So, play with it and enjoy!

Thoughts of a hopeful romantic

Posted by austenfan at 3/04/2012 11:26:00 PM 0 comments
I know it's probably irritating for some, but I can't help it. I am that type of person. I'm the type who cries watching romantic movies, who goes all giddy when watching sweet and mushy scenes, and who just can't help but feel really happy when I get to hear true and inspiring love stories.

Being a romantic is so much a part of me that I'm thinking of creating another blog for it - something that's more personal, where only I (and a selected few) can get to read my thoughts on love, love, and love. Haha.

Anyway, if you're a close friend, then you'll get to hear about this soon enough (if I decide to push through with it)!

Gossip Girl news

Posted by austenfan at 3/04/2012 11:06:00 PM 0 comments
Yep, it's one of my favorite TV shows. Sadly, due to my slow internet connection, I haven't been able to download or stream the past episodes of the show. I know, I should find a way to watch them! I'm so behind on what's the latest on Blair's marriage and her romance with Dan, Chuck, and the Prince. :)

I remember when I first started watching the show, I had to do a vlc download to be able to see the episodes I've downloaded. I miss that program - it's a pretty handy and user-friendly tool! Now, just being able to stream a single episode is no easy task. I've been pretty busy with work lately that on weekends I just want to curl up in bed and rest, instead of watching TV shows and movies. That has to change, right? Haha.

Love to cook?

Posted by austenfan at 3/04/2012 10:24:00 PM 0 comments
I'm sure I've talked about it on this blog before - I don't cook. I don't cook not because I don't want to, but because I don't know how to. For the past months, I keep telling myself that it's time for me to learn how to cook, but up to now, I still haven't gotten around to doing it. Haha.

Hmm, I wonder when I'll learn how to cook? Whenever I see those cooking shows on TV, I just feel more and more jealous of those who can create beautifully crafted and delicious dishes! Then, I imagine how satisfying it would feel if I were able to whip up those types of dishes.

I don't care which type of cooking I'll learn first - whether it be frying dishes or cooking using kamado grills. As long as I can produce something that's passable (for a first timer), then that's good enough for me!

Missing buffet dinners

Posted by austenfan at 3/04/2012 12:14:00 AM 0 comments
I miss eating at buffet dinners. I know it's not healthy, but there's some sort of joy in being free to eat anything you want (provided that it's available) without worrying that your bill will go over the top. Haha. And to have that variety of food laid out in front of you - sweet, isn't it? :)

Although I like buffets, I don't know a lot about them. I've only tried a few, but I know that there are a lot more out there which serves equally awesome tasting food! I guess I'm going to have to look them up in the internet for reviews.

Now, before I start planning to go on buffet dinners, I need have a budget plan first! :)

Play musical instruments?

Posted by austenfan at 2/26/2012 11:14:00 PM 0 comments
Do you play any type of musical instrument? I've tried playing different types of instruments, but I can't say that I'm good at any of them. Maybe I'm just not musically inclined enough. Then again, maybe I was just too lazy to practice playing them.

How about you? Are you good at playing the electric upright bass or the piano? What type of instruments do you enjoy playing the most? If you know how to play an instrument, then cultivate that talent and try to be better at it. Who knows? You might end up being the next big thing in the music scene!

Now, wouldn't that just be awesome? :)

Romantic comedy movies make me happy!

Posted by austenfan at 2/26/2012 11:09:00 PM 0 comments
What is it with romantic comedy movies that leave me feeling giddy and hopeful? Honestly, the male protagonists are always these seemingly perfect creatures - wildly romantic and impossibly gorgeous. Why do they need to do that? Don't they know that by producing these types of films, the girls only end up with higher expectations when it comes to love? Haha.

Anyway, here I am again, complaining even though I know that I'll watch the movie again (if someone gives me a free ticket)!

Have extra money?

Posted by austenfan at 2/23/2012 11:44:00 PM 0 comments
When you have extra money, what do you do with it? Do you just save it in the bank or do you invest in somewhere? From what I've heard, it would be best if you can invest it by putting up a business, preferably something that you're interested and passionate about. If you like baking, then why not put your own bakeshop? :)

You can also invest it in a lot of other ways. You can buy gold online and then later on sell it for a much higher price. Investing in stocks can also be quite profitable. Many of my friends are doing it now and I think they're actually earning a lot from it.

There are still a lot of other things you can do to make your extra money be productive. However, I suggest you do your research first before deciding on which investment to take on.

Microblogging, your thoughts on it?

Posted by austenfan at 2/19/2012 12:38:00 PM 0 comments
Microblogging is quickly gaining popularity these days. Sometimes, people just want to write short but meaningful thoughts and have the whole world wide web read them. I know I've felt that way before. You'll not always be in the mood to talk about something fully - with the details and all that. Is this a sign that people are becoming lazy, even when it comes to blogging? Or should we accept microblogging as what it claims to be - a useful way to make your thoughts be heard (without them having to be long to be considered great)?

The only microblogging platform I use is Twitter, and I'm not even an active tweet-er. Haha. But I'm thinking of collecting all those one-liner thoughts that sometimes just randomly pop into my head. Maybe I could write them down on my journal or save them on my phone whenever I get an attack of these thoughts. Haha.

Hmm, this is getting me excited already. I can't wait to read all those thoughts after I'm done compiling them! :)

Looking for a getaway?

Posted by austenfan at 2/19/2012 11:56:00 AM 0 comments
I love hearing other people's travel stories. Why? It's because I haven't been a grand vacation myself. That's why whenever I see the travel pictures that everyone posts on Facebook, I get really wistful and jealous. I start imagining how nice it would be to go on a trip to somewhere special too!

How do you start planning for a trip, anyway? How are you supposed to know which places to visit? I don't even know how to book a flight! Yep, that's how clueless I am about traveling. Fortunately, there are a lot of travel review sites out there which can help me decide on what kind of trip I'd enjoy. If you want to get the best UK travel agents to help you in planning for your trip, then you don'to need to fret! It's easy - there are a lot of travel reviews available out there. Read them and they'll definitely help you plan you trip!

As for myself, I would love to go on a trip to Paris - especially now, after just reading this amazing book that's set in France! I can imagine the scenery already - the Eiffel Tower, the grand chapels, the scrumptious food and coffee! Hmm, wonder when I'll get to take a trip there? But first things first, I need to save up for that!

How about you? Where would you like to travel to?

I need a memory booster.

Posted by austenfan at 2/12/2012 09:37:00 PM 0 comments
I know that as we age, our memory tends to grow less and less... stellar. Hmm, it's something that I'm sure everyone hopes could be avoided, right? How do you go about doing that? Does taking food that's supposed to make you "smart" like nuts really help? :)

In any case, this memory foam mattress might be of some help. I haven't tried using one before, but getting a relaxing nap or sleep is sure to do wonders for your health, right? So, if you're looking for something to help boost your memory, then why don't you try this?

Do you have any other tips when it comes to boosting your memory? Share them in the comments section!

I am a techie... not.

Posted by austenfan at 2/12/2012 08:54:00 PM 0 comments
I used to think that I was pretty knowledgeable about things that are tech-related. But now, I'm not so sure anymore. Ever since the advent of android phones, I've become more and more clueless about how these different apps work. Heck, this is the first time I've ever used foursquare!

Yeah, yeah. That's how un-techie I've become. Haha.

I'm slowly starting to learn all these new things, though. So, here's to hoping that I'll be able to catch up! :)

Book bargains!

Posted by austenfan at 2/05/2012 09:07:00 PM 0 comments
While mindlessly roaming around the mall yesterday, I decided to visit the bookstores and check if there are any new good titles. And was I glad I did! At the center of the store are hardcover books all discounted to almost a fifth of their original price! They were selling it for less than a hundred bucks - super huge discount, right? Of course, the books aren't in their best condition, but still, those were hardcover books! Haha.

Sorry, but I just get really excited when the words "books" and "discount" come together in a single sentence. If someone gives me barnes & noble coupons, then that would make me really happy! But if you'd just go ahead and buy me books for free, then that would make me even more happier. :)

I've yet to see if the books I bought would live up to my expectations. I'll just post reviews (if I have the time)!

When emotions take over

Posted by austenfan at 2/05/2012 08:53:00 PM 0 comments
It's hard to get too attached to something... or someone. I'm sure you all know why. Getting too attached will only bring forth feelings of disappointment and hurt, especially when those feelings aren't reciprocated. Wah, I should stop myself now before I start getting too mushy and this post ends up with bitter ramblings of a (sort of) heartbroken girl.

A very important lesson learned for me: Don't take things TOO seriously. Just enjoy these moments. Don't overanalyze it and never make too much out of it. You'll risk ending up confused and hurt.

This is just me, babbling randomly. Haha.

Coffee flavors

Posted by austenfan at 2/01/2012 12:38:00 AM 0 comments
I'm not a big fan of coffee, although I do enjoy drinking it from time to time. I've tried taking in too much caffeine before, and well, it wasn't really good for my health (my nerves, more especially).

What type of coffee flavors do you enjoy most? Do you like it brewed or sweetened with syrup with a dash of whipped cream? Have you tried drinking different cappuccino mixes? Did you enjoy it? :)

Despite not being a regular coffee drinker, I won't deny that I love smelling newly prepared coffee and taking sips of the different varieties of coffee drinks present in most coffee shops today. Actually, I'd probably spend a lot of time at coffee shops just for that wonderful smell (if only their products weren't so expensive)!

Do you have chickens?

Posted by austenfan at 1/29/2012 10:27:00 PM 0 comments
If you currently have chickens in your backyard or if you're thinking of getting some, then you need to consider buying chicken coops for your yard. That way, you're sure that they're housed in steady materials. Before seeing the site, I had no idea that there were different kinds of chicken coops - you get to choose from among a variety of designs!

So, who among you plans to buy these chicken coops? Share with me what type of coops you plan to buy! I think you'll like all the designs that are available. They're all pretty neat. :)

Mushy things

Posted by austenfan at 1/29/2012 10:19:00 PM 0 comments
Sometimes I wish I could just write about anything that I want to on this blog. By that, I mean mushy things like what I'm feeling at the moment - if I'm overjoyed about something that someone I like did or said to me. Well, since a lot of people I know have access to this blog, I can't really do that, especially if I want to keep certain things private. Haha.

Maybe I could start a private journal online, where only I, and selected close friends, can read my blog entries. Sounds like a plan, huh? Yeah, maybe I'll do that when I have enough free time. :)

Quality lighting

Posted by austenfan at 1/23/2012 10:07:00 PM 0 comments
Getting quality lighting is very important - whether it be at home, school, or work. The reason behind that is pretty self-explanatory, right? Anyway, even if you're using high quality metal switch plate covers, that wouldn't really matter much if the lighting itself isn't good.

If you want to keep your vision healthy, make sure that you have adequate lighting, especially when you're reading something or using your computers. You don't want to unnecessarily add to the strain in your eyes by using faulty lighting, right?

Aside from that, wear eyeglasses (if you have any) and don't forget to rest your eyes for a bit from time to time! :)

Car repair?

Posted by austenfan at 1/23/2012 09:58:00 PM 0 comments
Although I don't have a car, I have an idea of how hard and expensive it is to maintain one. You'd have to make sure that it's clean and more importantly, in good working condition. That's why if you're looking for car and rv repair services, you should look for those who provide the best quality services!

How would you know if the car repair service can be trusted, anyway? Hmm, talking to their past customers would definitely help. If they only have nice things to say about the services that the company has provided for them, then you should definitely try going to them for your car repair! However, if you've heard a lot of negative reviews about the company, then it would do you well to look for another company for your needed car repair service.

Dear Lee Min Ho

Posted by austenfan at 1/23/2012 07:41:00 PM 0 comments

Have you ever not looked this absolutely gorgeous and adorable? Because I don't think that's possible! Seriously, I just can't imagine it! Even when he's covered with dirt and mud or dripping wet from the rain, he'll still be as hot and hunky as he is. Haha.

I'll fight with anyone who dares to contradict me on this. Kidding. Haha.

Anyway, excuse me for this fangirling episode. i guess I've just been watching too many City Hunter episodes. :)

Looking for extra income?

Posted by austenfan at 1/03/2012 11:00:00 PM 0 comments
I'm sure most - if not all - of us wouldn't mind getting some extra income to supplement our daily needs and wants. There are several things that you can do to earn some extra cash. You can try doing some part time jobs (try looking for Technical Writer Jobs) or maybe start a small business, one that wouldn't need a big capital.

Any other suggestions on how to get extra income? Feel free to share it here! It'll be of great help to me and to anyone else who's reading this. Haha.

Anyway, I hope I can find the time to pursue these extra-income making ways!

What is your favorite motto?

Posted by austenfan at 1/03/2012 10:14:00 PM 0 comments
I've always found it hard to answer this particular question? Why? I know several, but I can't really say that I believe in a particular motto, enough so that I would always try to abide by it. That's why whenever this question pops up in a slumbook that my friend wants me to answer, I always feel that I'm giving a halfhearted answer by writing down whatever motto that comes to my mind at that moment. Haha.

Am I the only one who feels this way? I don't know if I'm just analyzing things too much or if it's something that everyone else thinks about too. Any thoughts on this? :)
