So how's summer going for you guys? Have you been spending time sunbathing and reclining on some nice patio furniture cushions? I haven't been able to go out and take a vacation out of town so I'm just relying on hearing other peoples' stories. Haha. Hope everyone's enjoying their summer! And yes, hope you all have fun this long weekend. :) Enjoy!

Have you tried using PLDT's DSL promo? The one where you only pay 990 pesos for both the landline and the DSL connection? If yes, is it fast? We recently requested to switch from our plan 999 to the promo so I was wondering if there's a marked difference in terms of internet speed between the two plans. Though it's okay if there is, I just don't want the connection to be super slow.

Now I can finally withdraw those payments made to my Paypal account! Weee! Er, actually not yet since I forgot to make an initial deposit and I heard that I have to wait for at least two to three days before my account gets activated. Anyone wants to help me with this? Pretty please? :) Haha.
I'm already thinking of ways to spend that cash or should I save it instead? I'd probably buy a new phone if ever I do decide to spend it. Samsung Corby Pro, here I come! Or not. It's not like I really really need a new phone. Anyway, I can't even withdraw my money yet so there's still a lot of time to decide. And oh, by the way, a little update on my weight loss plan - it seems that I won't be needing to buy diet pills yet as I haven't gained back those pounds I've lost yet - but still, I should probably stay away from those fatty chips and pizzas. :)

Turns out, I was only got one picture from the graduation ceremony. Actually, it's from the pre-ceremony. I'm too lazy to link the cam to the laptop and get the picture so I'll just leave that for another time. But let me describe it. :) Since it's the college's centennial year, we were required to come in Filipiniana attire, which lead to me wearing an off-white terno dress. Now, I'm not sure if I want to post the pic at all. :)
Ever think it's so unfair for girls? Take for example, when formal attire is required, the guys just have to pull out some white long sleeved shirts with their mens ties and they're all set, while we girls, have to search for that perfect dress!
Anyway, will try to post a pic soon!

I'm not the same YA fangirl as I was several months before. For my last semester in college, I decided to focus on my studies and refrained from reading the same amount of YA books as I used to. Not that I regret what I did cause hey, I'm now a college graduate! :) Anyway, lately we've been going to the malls to shop for some clothes, at the same time looking (just looking) at some furniture and appliances (like some sofas and tv stands!) that I realized that I haven't been to the bookstore (well, my favorite one) for a loooong time. Thus, I have no idea if some of the books that I've been waiting for are out here already. Okay, I know they aren't out yet, but just in case you happen to see them somewhere (as in somewhere in the Philippines), you know what to do. :)

It's time to get serious and quit slacking off! I'll soon be starting work at the same time reviewing for the board exams (and hence, I'll be needing a good under eye cream for I'm sure long, sleep-deprived nights are ahead - though not too many, I hope) so I need to stop using my free time pointlessly surfing the net and enjoying this just-graduated-period. Yeah, right. Easier said than done. Haha. Though I may yet give myself a couple more days to erm, relax and have fun. :)
Onto a different topic, remember when I said I wanted to start a new blog? Well, I still haven't decided what it will be about so if you have any suggestions, do tell me about it! [As of now, a travel blog is not an option for me - I still have to save up for that!]

Finally! After 5 long, gruelling years, I've graduated from college! Yes, for most of the time, my college life was filled with stress and anxiety, but thanks to my friends, there were those fun and laughter-filled moments too! I will definitely miss our sudden trips to Trinoma/SM North/Technohub, Red Box and Timezone sessions, and all those silly games we play to pass time! Okay, here comes the nostalgia. :)
I thank the UPD College of Engineering for well, everything. For taking care of me (uhh, that sounded so cheesy) and for being the coolest college in the university! :) Someday, maybe I'll get to learn more from this place... M.S. anyone? :) Though I don't have definite plans for that one yet.
I'll try to post some pictures from the graduation, though from what I remember, I was only able to get a couple of shots - Hey, I was busy... and excited! Also, I'm still trying to come up with a good and (somewhat) more heartfelt graduation blog entry, so watch out for that. But I have to say, no promises here. :)

So it seems like I've reached the dreaded plateau - that phase you fall into after you've shed off some pounds wherein your weight frustratingly refuses to go down some more. Either that or I'm eating a little bit too much. Actually, I kind of think it's a combination of both of them. I haven't been taking in as much dietary fiber as I should, opting for white instead of whole wheat bread, and yes, pasta and rice.
But despite how much I'm tempted to just abandon this diet plan and munch on heaps and heaps of fries and burgers, I won't. It's not only my weight I'm concerned about now, but my health as well. Reading several inspiring switching-to-a-healthier-type-of-lifestyle stories makes me want to go ahead and create my own story as well. So for now, I don't think I'll be using some of the best weight loss pills yet. With healthier food choices, I can still lose that additional ten pounds. I must! Haha. I just have to resist, or if not, not overindulge... which means, stay away from pepperoni pizzas and fries!

As much as possible, I want this blog to be updated regularly, but due to my busy busy schedule, that would be a bit improbable. But I did see this feature on a blog where the daily tweets (talking about Twitter here) are automatically combined in a single blog entry. Now, some of this blog's passersby may not care about my tweets, I know. But it's my blog so I'm gonna go ahead and do whatever I want to. Haha. Anyway, I'm still deciding whether to use it or not. Though, of course, I would have to tweet regularly if ever I do decide to install it. Which I don't really do. Still, stay tuned for more blog updates! :)

It's unavoidable that at certain times, we tend to 'go with the flow' in today's society. Kinda like how we go crazy over fads like the craze that was Twilight, Friendster, Facebook, etc. Usually, I try to have my own mind and not get carried away by what others around me think and do, like ordering fish (that's me) when all the others would get chicken, or trying out something I've never had before.
At times, I may even feel weird about being different. Like, I would be the only one among my friends and relatives who cries easily. Case in point: A few days ago, my cousin asked me, "When was the last time you cried?", to which I answered "Last night." because I have been watching a particularly moving scene from a kdrama then. Then my cousin gave me this perplexed look like she couldn't figure out if I was kidding or being serious. In return, I gave her an equally puzzled look that says "Why? It's not as if it's that unusual. When was the last time you cried?". Though I don't really think she got what I was trying to telepathize. Haha. Also, I'm this hopeless romantic who loves her happy endings and of course wants the same thing for herself and everyone else. Truthfully, I'm excited to see one of my friends get married so I can go look for perfect bridesmaid gifts! So to my friends who are currently reading this, get married soon, will ya? :p
As the title of this blog entry says, different doesn't necessarily mean bad. You shouldn't have to feel ashamed of something that's unique about you for the simplest reason that, well, I'm sure everybody feels or have felt that way at some point in time. Okay, this is quite a very very uncommon and unexpected blog entry from me, but I hope you got something out of it! :)

I thought I'd share this to all you romance novel fanatics out there (if by chance, you happen to stumble upon this blog). Actually, I don't have a specific romance sub-genre preference. As long as it's a love story and it can make me feel all giggly and mushy, I'm bound to love it. :) Though of course, there are those that have stuck in (and struck my) heart for their unforgettable plots and overall feel-good-vibes. Some of them are:
- Just The Sexiest Man Alive by Julie James - I know I've mentioned it before. Serious and no-nonsense lawyer meets playboy, hunky, yet quite clueless (but still looks cute while being so) actor? Gotta love that. :)
- Truly Madly Yours by Rachel Gibson - kind of a didn't work out before but reunited again plot, which is, fyi, my favorite kind! Speaking of which, I'm not seeing it in my bookshelf right now. Uuuuh, where did it go????
- This Heart of Mine by Susan Elizabeth Phillips - Hmm, the story's a bit complicated, but you can look it up in the net if you're interested. I highly recommend SEP's books, even though, some of them seem to be always set in Dallas, TX, where you're sure to find Dallas Pawn Shops and Austin Pawn Shops. I'm not sure about this, it's just that I remember the word Dallas when it comes to her books. :)
The books I mentioned above are all contemporary romances - meaning they're light, funny, and of course, absolutely romantic. Though I have my faves on other sub-genres too. Wanna talk about your favorite romance books? Drop me a comment, and let's gush about them together. Haha. :p

Hopefully, I'm going to wear it always (or frequently) this time. I have had a total of three glasses in the past five years, all of which, I haven't really maximized the use. It's just that, I don't feel comfortable wearing eyeglasses whenever I'm in public. Not that I'm shy or whatever about it, it's like, I don't feel like I look my best with them on, which is as it should be, since people don't get to see my, ehem, lovely peepers.
So, I got my eyes checked, which I enjoyed, by the way. The "Is this one or that one clearer?" questions were really fun, especially since I had to ask the doctor to repeat switching the lenses over and over again. Haha. Afterwards, we watched the cashier scan it with the ls2208 (it looked like one), paid for it, went looking for some clothes around the mall, went back to the optical shop, and claimed the glasses. So now, here I am wearing them! (Sorry I can't provide pics, maybe when I'm a bit more made-up). :p

Again, image is not mine.
It seems like I'm getting addicted (again) to Korean dramas. This time, I'm having fun with Dal Ja's Spring. Among the cast, I only know Chae Rim, who was the pretty lead in All About Eve. I'm only on the 2nd episode so I don't really know how this one will go but so far, here's the plot: Thirty-something never-had-a-boyfriend-girl finally gets one. A boyfriend, I mean. Naturally, she's super in love with him (like all first time to fall in love people are), not knowing that the guy is cheating on her. When the guy dumps her, she couldn't bear to let people talk about how she's been dumped and all that, so (here's the fun part!) she hires someone to pretend to be her boyfriend! It doesn't sound like a story I usually go for, but I'm having fun with it so what the heck, right? :) *Sigh* Spending my vacation watching these Korean dramas sounds really really good to me right now. I can't travel and get an Orlando vacation anyway, so I might as well just relax at home and gorge myself with these silly, funny, and romantic shows. :)

Now that I'll be graduating, I'll be leaving behind the dormitory which had served as my refuge during my last three to four years in college. And though I'm really glad that I'll be staying at home now, I can't deny that I'll be missing a lot of things there as well. Lemme organize them into a neat little list...
- Roommate(s)! - I'll definitely be missing our talks and food deliveries! Greenwich pepperoni pizza - the best! Haha.
- Rustan's supermarket/grocery - Whenever I'm looking for something to munch on, I usually stop by here to get some chips, bread, cookies, etc.
- Starbucks - Yes, I love those late night cappuccinos and mocha frappes! And of course, honey glazed doughnuts!
- National Book Store - Thank you for letting me wander around the store even if sometimes I end up going out of it without purchasing anything. :p It's a good place where you can just relax and look around
- all the restaurants along the Katipunan avenue, most especially Flaming Wings (not sure if they have a branch anywhere else). :)
- um, Dorminet? Though the internet connection's really slow, it did help me a lot with my papers, so yes, I'm still grateful. We never got around to installing that Linksys router that me and my roommate planned to use before so that we wouldn't have to share the LAN. But we wouldn't have known how to set that up so it's okay. Haha.
Anyway, I still have to haul off my things there. And when I say things, I mean THINGS. Clothes, books, the TV, notebooks, papers, the list goes on... Wonder when I'll packing and picking them up? :)

Recently, I've noticed that my sense of style has changed dramatically. I have always been the shirt-and-jeans type of girl. But lately, I've seriously been considering buying more feminine (ehem) clothes, which is really unusual for me. But this is a good thing, I think. Why should I be afraid to show a little more skin, right? Just a tinny tiny bit. Haha. Does this change of heart come with age? Or with the coming graduation? :p But one thing's for sure, to push through with this change, I need to maintain (or lose some more, please) my weight. I am so envious of models who (they probably use some of the best weight loss pills in the world... or not) always look good in anything they wear! Though I'm not trying to be as skinny as one. I'd be happy if I could shed off ten pounds or so. As of the moment though, I think I've reached what they call a plateau. And as what the articles I've read have said, it is frustrating. But I'll be following their advice and still keep on doing my diet plan or maybe even modify it to increase my metabolism. Okay then, let's go! Haha. Must look good for our graduation ceremonies. :)

I'm often exposed to the sun. So it's not surprising that when one of my batchmates saw me, all that person could say was [translated to English, for the benefit of you, my dear readers] "Hi!... Your skin tone seems a little darker." Okay, forgive me. I really don't know how to properly translate that one, but if you speak Tagalog, then you probably understand what I'm trying to say. Back to the topic... yes, it wasn't surprising. But I can't say I'm fine and dandy about it. Seriously, I'm sure you also wouldn't like to hear it (unless you're trying to get a tan or something).
That incident led me to my strong conviction to take better care of my skin. Toner, moisturizer, sunblock... must definitely use them regularly. So earlier at Watson's, while searching for the best night cream that I could afford, I decided to try Garnier's overnight whitening peeling cream. It claims to produce positive results within 14 days (if I remember correctly). Well, we'll see if that's true. :)
as usual, the image was taken from somewhere in the www

Lately, I've been so busy with school stuff that I've been neglecting all the books in my TBR pile. And I must must must must really get back to those. And if that's not enough, my huge pile of to-be-read books will be getting bigger and bigger, thanks to my tendency to not help but go inside a bookstore whenever I see one. And of course, my tendency to (most of the time) buy a book (or books) whenever I'm in a bookstore. I really must practice to restrain this book buying urge. If only, there's a clicke here to stop yourself from buying another book button that I could press whenever I feel like buying again. *Sigh*
Will go back to reading now, or maybe tomorrow. I need to sleep early for tonight. :)
Hopefully, in the next few days, I'll be able to do lots more reading. I miss my YA. :)

On our way home today, as I was contemplating on whether I should change some of the beauty products I use (like my shampoo, toner, and face cream), a very disturbing news came up on the radio. The reporter said that according to a recent study conducted by medical professionals which theorized that women who take multivitamins are in greater risk of developing breast cancer than those who don't. And me, being a very regular vitamin girl, was of course, very shocked. And horrified. You see, I get colds quite easily so as much as possible I always try to take vitamins to help boost my immune system. But with this very alarming news, I think I'm gonna have to rethink whether to continue on taking those vitamins or just try to take in more vitamin C by eating more fruits and veggies (which, by the way, sounds so much better, I know).
An explanation that they provided is that apparently, folic acid (which is found in multivitamins) increases breast density, which in turn, increases the chance of developing breast cancer. [I'm sorry, I didn't quite catch the name of the journal on which this was published.] I'm not sure whether this is true, but for now, I'll be limiting my multivitamins intake. I need to get more of those natural vitamin C sources!
If you have any more info about this, please do share! :)

It's strange that with the graduation ceremonies fast approaching, I seem to be in a not-quite-feeling-it-yet state. Don't get me wrong. I am happy and excited to graduate. Yet, that "Oh my gosh! I am going to freakin' graduate!" feeling has yet to struck me. Maybe it's because the grades are not even out yet. Or maybe I'm waiting for something... special. Something that'll make me say "This is it." to myself with conviction. What that thing is, I'm not really sure. Could it be our submission of our theses? A very big could be. :) After all the hard work, it's (or rather, they're) finally done! With all those late nights while we're at it, it's a wonder I haven't resorted to using acne treatment creams. I hope I won't be needing one. Please let me be past that multiple pimples popping up phase.
On the other hand, I'm still not feeling that "I'll miss school" vibes that people always seem to say. Truthfully, as of now, I don't think I'll be missing school. Sure, I'll be missing my friends at school, and all the happy memories associated with it. But school itself? As in staying up late doing homework and studying for exams? Writing countless papers with a required minimum length [I hate it when they do that.]? Sorry, can't really see myself missing it. But who knows? Maybe in the future, I will. :)
Posted by austenfan at 4/04/2010 02:33:00 AM
When I really need to stay awake, I fall asleep. But when I don't have anything important to do, I can keep my eyes wide open for so long and not feel even a little bit sleepy. Hmm, why am I even wondering about this? It's just one of those things that you accept for what it is. Right? Like how the sun appears at daytime and why outdoor rugs are supposed to stay outdoors, right? :)
So, I've just finished with You're Beautiful! Ya know? The show that I gushed about in my previous entry? I haven't felt this strongly about a Korean series since Princess Hours, which come to think of it, was more than 3 years ago. Whoa. I've really been missing out on a lot of good shows lately. Now that I think about it, is this newfound addiction somehow caused by my Korean-show-watching-inactivity? Hmm, I don't think so. I remember trying to watch several Korean shows the past years, but I never got around to finishing it. It was either I had something important to do or the show just didn't interest me enough to continue watching it even if I had lots of other things to do. So, yes. You're Beautiful is now one of my all-time favorite Korean series ever. And let me tell you, I only have a few favorites. It's now up there with Full House, My Girl, and Princess Hours.
Now I'm itching to watch some more extremely good Korean shows (or as we call it here in the Philippines, Koreanovelas)! How about it? Watched any good ones lately???? :)

I'm back home. Weee. And that means... fast internet access! No, that's not like my top priority or anything, I'm just saying, after enduring our dorm's uber slow internet connection (seriously, it was super slow, I couldn't even make a simple Google search for best netbooks or car insurance cheap prices), it's super fun to go back to our fast and reliable DSL.
So I finally gave in and watched an episode of 'You're Beautiful', this Korean series that everyone (who likes watching Korean shows) seems to love. And yes, I am super duper loving it! :) [Has anyone else noticed my fascination with superlatives? I sound like a teenager, which I'm not, by the way. Haha.] Er, getting off topic again. Anyway, as I said earlier, I am loving it, so far. I'm only on the 3rd episode so if you're way past that, don't give out any spoilers, please! :)
Will now get back to watching it. I'll definitely blog about my growing addiction to it later. Haha.
