I loved Mean Girls!

Posted by austenfan at 12/29/2010 01:42:00 PM 0 comments
I'm sure many of you will agree with me when I say that "Mean Girls" is one of, if not, the best teen movies of all time!

This image is not mine, and was taken from somewhere around the world wide web.

Tina Fey was such an awesome genius for coming up with the movie's storyline. I thought Rachel McAdams played the role of the pretty and popular yet evil "Regina". The two other mean girls were perfect for their respective roles too. And yes, let's talk about Lindsay Lohan. This movie made me a (sort of) fan of hers as well. I decided to go and watch her other movies as well after seeing this one. Now, it's just really disappointing to see her caught up with drugs and other various offenses. Well, it's sad to see anyone who used to be that famous go through that. I hope she recovers, though, even after so many failed rehab admissions. Hmm, maybe she should try going to some other los angeles detox rehabs as they might be good for her. By the way, were you a Lindsay fan as well? What among her movies did you like the best? :)

Tumblr ?

I don't have a Tumblr account. I don't have an account, but I do get why people are (a bit) crazy over it. The themes look really cute and it's great that there's this sort of "follower" application to let those that follow your account be updated whenever you have new content. Did I get that right? I'm only guessing here. Haha.

With this blog, and another one that I'll be updating as soon as I write this, frankly, I don't see the need to create a Tumblr account. I mean, there's only so much that I can write about, right? And, well, I like my blogs just fine. :) Still, we'll see... I might be persuaded to creating one, when I become fascinated enough over it.

But, do you have one? Then, give me those links and I'll come visit!

I love online banking!

Posted by austenfan at 12/22/2010 10:12:00 PM 0 comments
Online banking has been such a huge help for me. I can transfer funds between accounts easily. I can use it to withdraw funds from my Paypal account. I haven't tried it yet, but I've heard that I can even pay my bills online too! It's really such a huge help.

I've been meaning to try dabbling in stock exchange as well, through the use of an online trading service. I'm not sure of the terms I'm using as I don't know much about stock exchange as of the moment. Haha. Anyway, I really want to learn about stocks since I've been hearing so many great things about it! These days, we must be conscious of how we spend and save our money if we want to be able to afford to buy cars and health plans (like a plan from Blue Cross Blue Shield NC) soon! So, I say NO to unnecessary spending and YES to alternative income resources like stock exchange!

How about you? Do you have any other source of income right now? Come on, tell me about it! :)

I have so many unmoderated comments for this blog! I don't know when I'll be able to approve them all. You understand why I have to moderate the comments though, right? I've been receiving so much spam comments for this blog that I decided to disable the auto-approving of the comments.

By the way, spam comments are those comments that don't have anything to do with whatever you've written on your blog entry. They frequently have links attached to them, with most of these links not really related to my blog's purpose. I actually don't know these comments were manually submitted or were auto-generated since I've been seeing a lot of them in other blogs as well.

I'll definitely try to moderate some of the other comments, though. Please just wait for it! :)

My new blog is still a bit empty right now... with only just a couple of entries here and there. I've been a bit preoccupied lately that I haven't come up with any new blog posts for it. By the way, have you seen it yet? In case you haven't, here's your chance, go take a look at it now!

Alright, I have to go to sleep soon or else I'm going to have to use some wrinkle creams that work from staying up too late. But first, let me just say that there are gonna be some changes for this blog. I won't be writing about books and love (mushy, I know!) related things on this blog anymore. I'll be writing them on my other blog, instead! Wanna know why? Uh, you have to head on to my other blog and find out for yourself. Haha.

So, I guess my blog entries here would be less serious and more... fun and random? Haha, well... we'll see, but, I'll definitely try my best! :)

Threads are full of surprises!

Posted by austenfan at 12/11/2010 09:40:00 PM 0 comments
Reading people's conversations in forum threads has always been a fun pastime. I get to read other people's reactions regarding certain topics, at times even being pleasantly surprised that their opinion about some things are the same as mine. These includes favorite romance novels, reviews of certain gadgets, and well, anything else that can possibly a topic.

Earlier, I stumbled upon a thread where the posters were recommending romance books that they find really good, so me being a book lover, decided to stick around and find out what books they've enjoyed. You know me, I'm always up for a good romance books that'll promise to make to have a happy ending, which involves the exchange of promise rings between the hero and heroine. Haha. Anyway, I read a discussion among the posters about a particular part of a certain book. It seemed like they were confused about what actually happened, since the author didn't exactly write it in a very straightforward way. A posted actually e-mailed the author and asked a clarification regarding the matter. Unbelievable, right? I don't mean that in a bad way, of course. I'm actually a bit in awe of that person. I admire that person's passion and intensity toward that book. Now, I'm wondering when or if I might ever do the same. Hmm, I wonder what book will make me do it? :)

Missing book giveaways

Posted by austenfan at 12/11/2010 09:32:00 PM 0 comments
I want to start joining book giveaways again. I really want to get my hands on some very, very promising books that I've been seeing around book blogs lately. Once I had the time to go blog hopping again, I'm definitely joining more book giveaways!

It's amazing how generous bloggers are, to be hosting these giveaways just to give thanks to their readers. They don't just give away books, but also makeup, accessories, gadgets (whoa), and yes, even some cash! It's amazing, really.

If you want to join some of these wonderful giveaways, all you have to do is look them up online. There are even blogs that just post notices of the giveaways going around the blogging world. Hmm, it looks so fun to be able to post giveaways like that that it makes me think of creating my own blog, where I can blog about those giveaways. Haha. Watch out for that (if I ever get around to creating it)!

Been busy

Posted by austenfan at 12/09/2010 08:08:00 PM 0 comments
I haven't been a very good blogger lately, sorry for that. I've been busy reading books (love stories, you know how I love them) that I haven't had the time to blog for a while.

By the way, have you guys seen the latest Harry Potter movie? I really liked it! It went beyond my expectations... or maybe that's because I've forgotten most of what was on the book that I was pleasantly surprised by most of the scenes in the movie. Anyway, it's really good, so if you've seen the last six Harry Potter movies and haven't seen this one yet, I suggest you go to the cinema nearest to you and watch it before they stop showing it.

It was nice to see the HP world again, the steel buildings that looked a bit ancient yet magical, the unusual and fun magical items that they use, and of course, the familiar characters in the series that everyone has come to love - Harry, Ron, and Hermione, most especially. :)

De-stress again

Posted by austenfan at 12/08/2010 05:03:00 PM 0 comments
Looking for a job is pretty hard. I didn't appreciate how hard it was the first time I applied, since the whole recruitment process for my first job was relatively fast-paced. But now that I've decided to do something else, well yeah, it is really hard that sometimes I just want to forget about the application process for a bit and just read a good book.

I shouldn't let that make me feel down, though, not if I want to have enough money to buy an insurance plan like those that are listed on For now, though, I'm trying to find some other ways to earn money. Hmm, maybe I'll try doing some online tutoring and see how that goes for me. Anyway, I'll be posting a list of some ways to earn money if and when I'm able to look for them! Haha.

And oh yeah, have you seen my new blog? It's at Hope you can visit it!

Why am I not athletic?

Posted by austenfan at 12/05/2010 05:42:00 PM 0 comments
Ever since I was a kid, I've never been much into playing kiddie games that involves running a lot. Haha. Now, don't start judging me here. The truth is, I also played the games that were popular with kids those days - I had to or else I would have been such an outcast. Actually, I think I stopped liking it when I got wounded during one of our running games. I can't really remember what it was called.

Another reason why I'm not very athletic is my lack of skill for sports. I like playing some sports but, I'm not that good at it. Still, I hope I can develop some kind of skill for sports. There are so many types of sports that I haven't tried yet so, who knows? I might find myself surprisingly good at football! Hmm, I might have to a bit of research on that. If ever I do become interested in the sport, I hope my friends will support me and maybe even buys some football gifts for me! :) I could also try basketball since I love watching it, anyway, so I might as well learn how to play it, right?

Hmm, I wonder if I'll ever become that sporty. Haha.

Gadgets love

Posted by austenfan at 12/03/2010 11:30:00 PM 0 comments
I'm not a very gadget-knowledgeable person. I don't own a lot of gadgets. I can probably count all the gadgets I have using one hand - mobile phone, laptop, camera, iPod nano. Hmm, that's actually all I could think of. I don't own any gaming consoles, though I would really want to have my own Wii. I've seen it being played at the malls, and it looks pretty fun! Still, gadgets are not at my priority list right now. Haha.

Anyway, here are a list of gadgets that I would like to have (if ever someone would like to buy it for me or if I have enough money to buy one):

1. iPhone - Yep, I would love to own an iPhone. I know it makes me sound as if I'm just a trend follower, but I think an iPhone would be really fun to have. I haven't heard many complaints about it so I guess it's pretty durable. Plus, it would be nice to be able to buy some Iphone accessories to enhance the phone even more.

2. DSLR camera - I don't know much about photography, but it seems like if I ever get to own a DSLR camera, I'd get to learn more about it. Actually, it's more like I'll strive to learn more about photography once I get a cam like this. :)

3. Wii - As I said before, it looks like a fun piece. Plus, it'll let me play tennis (for a bit) and you all know how much I love watching Prince of Tennis, right?

New Kdrama!

Posted by austenfan at 12/02/2010 08:35:00 PM 0 comments
I'm about to watch a new Kdrama, that is, once it loads completely. It's "Mary Stayed Out All Night", starring You're Beautiful's star Jang Geun Suk and Moon Geun Young. I'm not sure if they really are the main stars of the show since I haven't done enough research on this show, but they're the ones I'm looking forward to watch the most. Haha.

In case you didn't know, Moon Geun Young played the role of the young Jenny in the Korean Drama "Endless Love: Autumn In My Heart", which was kinda a huge hit when it first aired here. I first learned about "Mary Stayed Out All Night" from Mysoju, since it occupied the top spot in the Top 25 Dramas of the Week, but did not pay much attention to it since I was still occupied with watching Prince of Tennis. Earlier though, I saw a clip of the shooting of the show on KBS World, and it looked fun, not to mention, Jan Geun Suk looked really cute, and now, here I am waiting for the streaming to completely load. :)

It looks like I can start watching it now, I hope it's good!

Dubbing sounds really different.

Posted by austenfan at 12/01/2010 09:00:00 PM 0 comments
I used to just watch Prince of Tennis on Hero TV. I would patiently wait for the next episode each day to be able to catch my favorite characters on TV. Every time I watch a 20 to 25 minute long episode, I would end up feeling all happy and excited for the next episode.

Then, I watched the show through streaming and I fell in love with the show even more. The lines were so much better when read from a subtitle than when translated and dubbed to a different language. Hearing the original character voices was also great. Still, I appreciate the effort our local dubbers give in creating these shows. :) But, yeah, it's really better if you hear the original voices of the characters, especially if they're your favorites. :)

Since I'm becoming really fond of the show, I'm trying to look for stuffed toys of the characters. It would make me very excited to be able to see some POS systems take care of my purchases. I hope I find some Prince of Tennis related merchandise! I'm planning to look for them at Comic Alley, do you guys know any other anime stores?

Need to get pretty.

Posted by austenfan at 11/27/2010 03:16:00 PM 0 comments
Now, please don't go judging me just because of this entry's title. What I meant was, now that the board exam's finished, I need to go back to taking good care of myself once again. More specifically, I need to go back to applying my facial care routine again.

I stopped using toners, moisturizers, and eye creams while I was reviewing for the exam because it took up too much time and back then, I needed to put those minutes into studying. But now that the exam's done, I can't continue to neglect my skin care again or else I might have to use a face lift cream soon.

Anyway, I'm still deciding whether to go ahead with my current eye cream since the last time I checked, it seems like I developed some unwanted spots around the eye area when I applied it. Hmm, could it be that my skin was just adjusting to the cream or should I go ahead and try another eye cream that suits me better? What do you guys think? :)

Blog checklist

Posted by austenfan at 11/27/2010 01:28:00 PM 0 comments
I'll be starting a new blog soon so I need to create some sort of checklist just to help me sort things out smoothly. Alright, here are a few things I probably need to do:

  • Look for an AWESOME blog template. It has to be something neat and striking at the same time!
  • Decide on which widgets to install. I don't know much of what the current and popular widgets are out there, so I might have to do a bit of research with that.
  • Make a list of the blog listings and directories where I can submit the new blog to. That way, people will know that there is such a blog, right?
  • Get ready to blog hop again! I need to start dropping by other blogs as well, if I want to introduce the blog. :)
I'll be posting a new entry once it's up, then! :)

These anime boys...

Posted by austenfan at 11/26/2010 08:47:00 PM 0 comments
I always have a type for my anime crushes, and it doesn't look like it's going to stay the same for a long time. For proof, here are the guys I like:

1. Hiei (or Vincent) from Yuyu Hakusho (also known as Ghost Fighter)
2. Killua from Hunter X Hunter
3. Ryoma Echizen from Prince of Tennis

If you know these guys and have seen these shows, I'm sure you can see the pattern here. The thing is, they're all a bit short that they seem to need an hgh releaser to be able to gain some extra inches on them. It's true, try searching for some images online and see for yourself. Next, they're all unbelievably strong, though each one has a different kind of expertise. It makes sense, though, that I would like the strong characters. I mean, who doesnt? And finally, and I don't know why this side of them appeals to me, they're all mysterious yet kind of rude. Of course, one can't help but fall for the silent and mysterious types, especially someone like me who loves romance novels. And I suppose their rudeness (just a bit, though) adds to their charm as well. :)

Starting again.

Posted by austenfan at 11/25/2010 08:55:00 AM 0 comments
I'm about to start a new blog again, and it's making me feel and anxious and excited at the same time. Do you remember how you felt when you first made that step? When you thought of the best (and available) blog name there is? Can you think back on when you first made that entry? How you obsessively visit your blog every hour or so, just to check if anyone else has visited it too? Plus, how you made sure you had all the widgets you need for the blog? It's a very overwhelming feeling, and I'm about to go through that again.

Of course, it's not yet been finalized as I'm still waiting for the hosting. What I'm doing now, though, is preparing and psyching myself up with what the blog is going to be about. Yay!

More updates when it's finally up!

Prince of Tennis again.

Posted by austenfan at 11/23/2010 09:10:00 PM 0 comments
I'm getting really into this. Watching this show is such a great stress reliever that I feel like I'm playing kids games while I see it. With every episode comes a certain excitement over what's going to happen between the character's tennis matches. Though the moves are actually physically impossible, I don't find it the least bit ridiculous. I mean, it's anime, after all. It's supposed to be exaggerated to be entertaining. :)

The only thing I don't like about watching it online is waiting for the episode to completely load. Sometimes, my connection's a bit slow that I have to pause the show for a bit before I get to watch it again. Still, it's okay, though I wouldn't mind if I can borrow some downloaded episodes from a fellow fan. Haha.

Who doesn't know how to draw?

Posted by austenfan at 11/22/2010 10:37:00 PM 0 comments
I've never been good at drawing. Sure, I can draw the usual things that children can do - landscapes, mountains and houses, but I've never been much good at drawing anything else. I can't draw people that do not have stick figures. Come to think of it, even my stick figure drawings aren't that much to look at either. Haha.

Still, I hope this doesn't translate to me having no talent at all in decorating or any other area that involves artistry. I would love to be able to design my own house (when I've saved enough and am able to buy one) with beautiful and unique pieces. I still don't know what type or style I would want to use. It can either be very modern or be something that will go well with rustic furniture. The point is, I hope I'll be able to have enough sense of style in me that I can make it look good. :)

Anyway, please don't go thinking that I will be buying a house soon enough. I need to save up first!

Prince of Tennis love

Posted by austenfan at 11/21/2010 11:08:00 PM 0 comments
While I'm waiting for the Prince of Tennis episode that I'm streaming to load, let me just right this short blog entry. :)

All along, I thought I've gotten over my fascination with anime shows, what with all these other TV shows that I've been watching (like Chuck and Gossip Girl). Well, it turns out that I haven't. I've just been waiting for the right show to come along. And now it has. I'm pretty sure you know which show I'm talking about as it's written all over this entry's title. :) I'm not really sure what draws me to it. Maybe it's how the characters look or maybe it's because of the unbelievable tennis shots that each character shows. I've never been a big tennis fan so I'm not sure if tennis lovers will like this show as much as I do.

Anyway, I definitely like watching it more using my notebook computer than on TV where I have to wait for commercial breaks and for the next episode for another day. Plus, it's fan to be able to replay my favorite parts of the episode (and believe me, I have a lot of those). Okay then, the episode must be almost all ready to load. I'll get back to it now!

Must have!

Posted by austenfan at 11/21/2010 10:41:00 AM 0 comments
I must get this book (once I get enough cash for it!). It's the fifth book the Blue Bloods series by Melissa de la Cruz. By the way, in case you didn't know, Melissa de la Cruz is actually a Filipino author who's now a huge name in the young adult world. :)

Unlike other YA series that I've started, I haven't yet grown tired of this one so I'm still looking forward to reading the latest installment, Misguided Angel. If I were to be completely honest, I think my love for this series has more to do with the characters themselves than the actual storyline. But, oh well, that's normal for me. Haha.

It doesn't hurt that the book covers look awesome as well! Just try and search for them on the internet and you'll see what I mean. :)

Chuck, Gossip Girl, Pretty Little Liars, here I come!

Posted by austenfan at 11/20/2010 08:34:00 AM 0 comments
Yay! Finally, I can watch all the shows I like again! Just yesterday, I was able to see an episode of Gossip Girl (not the latest one, though, so you could say I'm still not fully up to date :)) and as usual, I was amazed with all the wonderful clothes and gadgets that the characters have. It makes me want to go ahead and buy stuff at this Black Friday sale. If I had a lot of spare money, I'd definitely want to get myself a new laptop, especially since my laptop's battery doesn't work anymore. Yep, it works like a desktop nowadays. :)

Anyway, have you seen ETC's preview for Pretty Little Liars? It looks really good. I'm debating whether to watch it on ETC (commercial-free) this Sunday or to watch it now on the internet. But then again, I'll be catching up on a lot of shows from the net (including Prince of Tennis) that maybe it would be better if I just wait for it on TV. Haha.

Alright then, Gossip Girl and Chuck, you're up next on my to-watch list! :)

Thursday, November 18, 2010

What are you watching these days?

Posted by austenfan at 11/18/2010 10:44:00 PM 0 comments
Let me just make a survey on what TV shows people are currently hooked on right now. Personally, I watch Gossip Girl and Chuck, and yes, a bit of anime as well. The new show on ETC, Pretty Little Liars sounds good too, so I might get around to seeing that too! How about you guys? Any shows you'd like to recommend? It can be anything - Korean, American, Taiwanese, Japanese - as long as it's good and will be keep me entertained. :)

All this talk of TV shows is making me crave for popcorn. Haha. Speaking of which, we have to be mindful of what we eat these days. Fiber will do you a lot of good in flushing out all those unwanted cholesterol in our body systems. You can also get a colon cleanse, which, as the name implies, works to clean and detoxify. But, to be sure, staying away from fatty foods is a good idea too!

So, going back, any shows you think is good and which you want me to watch? :)

Gotta eat healthy!

Posted by austenfan at 11/18/2010 05:57:00 PM 0 comments
I need to start eating healthy! I'm eating "healthier" now that I don't consume so much fast food meals like when I was staying at the dorm during my college days, but I think I need to step it up, which means more fiber-rich foods for me. Hmm, a bit of chips and sweets wouldn't be too much, right? Haha.

Anyway, I should put a stop to eating too much carbs or else I'll gain weight again and I might start to have to search for phrases like " do diet pills work " on Google. :) By the way, I think they do work, but only if you match it with proper diet and exercise well. I haven't tried them, though. This is just me telling you what I've heard from other peoples' stories. Haha. I still think the best way to lose weight is to eat healthier and get some (or a lot of) exercise. Okay, spoken like a true healthy-eating and exercise-loving (not) person. :)

Posted by austenfan at 11/18/2010 05:41:00 PM 0 comments
I don't smoke. I mean, I've never tried smoking. Though, you could see me holding a cigarette holder on my yearbook. Don't be fooled, though. That's just me trying to imitate Audrey Hepburn. Haha.

So, I've never tried to smoke cause the idea of smoking just doesn't seem to have any appeal on me. I think I'm just going to start coughing once I try it. Anyway, imagine my surprise when I learned that cigarettes actually come in different flavors, like these Acid cigars that I saw on the internet. I heard there's even a chocolate-flavored one. Wow. That's kind of cool... and a bit weird, actually. But still, it's pretty neat that every product out there seems to be innovating continuously. Hmm, is this cigarrete manufacturers' way of trying to lure the chocoholics in? :) Who knows, maybe next time these flavored cigarettes would be so widely spread that you'd be able to buy them everywhere! :)

Not very active on Twitter lately.

Posted by austenfan at 11/18/2010 05:27:00 PM 0 comments
I haven't been tweeting much these past few days. I don't know if this has to do with me installing the Chromed Bird application on my browser or if it's just because I don't feel like tweeting. :) But seriously, it seems much more fun when you tweet using the real Twitter site than just using a browser add-on. The site's look makes tweeting much more engaging. Hmm, maybe I should un-install Chromed Bird and get back to using the Twitter homepage, maybe then I could get my enthusiasm for tweeting back. Haha.

A very, very quick break!

Posted by austenfan at 11/13/2010 12:29:00 AM 0 comments
Yep, this is me, taking a very quick break to let myself relax even for a little bit. :)

I just noticed, though, that people seem to have gotten tired of watching Gossip Girl, and that I'm the only one who still watches it (though I haven't seen the latest episode yet). I still find it fun and entertaining to watch so until I stop doing so, I don't think I'll stop watching it no matter what others have to say about the show. It's just fun to get to see that rich, socialite filled world, especially since I don't have any idea what goes on in it. As Gossip Girl depicts it, people there are so filthy rich that they probably have no need for a cheap life insurance. They'd probably get the most expensive one, or not get one at all! Haha.

Anyway, for those of you who still watch Gossip Girl, please don't spread spoilers in places where you're not supposed to spread it, namely, in Facebook, Twitter, or any other social networking site (because I'd like to not be unsurprised). :)

Anime fan again

Posted by austenfan at 11/05/2010 10:06:00 AM 0 comments
I'm getting addicted to watching anime again. Scratch that, I'm getting addicted to watching one anime show, in particular, that is, the Prince of Tennis. It's a bit weird, really, since I'm not a big tennis fan. Sure, I find it fun to watch, for a few minutes or so, but I've never watched a whole game. I don't know, though I think I'll feel differently about the sport if I was crushing on a tennis player. Haha.

Prince of Tennis gives me just that - a tennis player to crush on. Though, of course, he's not real. And thus begins an addiction for the anime show. It makes me want to download every episode off the net. The 2o minutes of weekday airtime isn't enough for me! :) (Of course, that would have to wait.) But still, it makes me want to go to Japan and look for Prince of Tennis collectibles - jackets, caps, tennis rackets, etc. Don't take me seriously here, though. I've never even been to another country, and I think would prefer it if the first place I would go to overseas is somewhere I can use some discount Disney World tickets. I've never been there, but I heard it's really awesome! :) How about you? Ever been there? Tell me your stories!

Might start looking for a webhost

Posted by austenfan at 11/05/2010 09:58:00 AM 0 comments
I might start looking for a web host for the new blog that I will be starting. And no, I'm still not sure when I'll get around to starting it. Anyway, before I worry about that, I think I need to learn first how to put up a self hosted blog. I know! I've been blogging for a long time, but my knowledge on hosting services is still limited (by that, I mean very little. Haha.)

Can anyone give me any advice/tips on web hosting? Do you know where I can get an affordable hosting package? Do leave me a comment! Thanks!

Keep me awake

Posted by austenfan at 10/30/2010 09:38:00 PM 0 comments
Since I'm finding it hard to stay awake for a long period of time after 9 o' clock sets in, here I am, hoping that blogging for a bit might help keep me awake. It's not the best solution out there, but maybe, just maybe, it can help a little.

Have you ever wondered why they still haven't invented something that'll help you stay awake for long? I'm not talking about coffee or energy drinks, but something else that will claim to keep you awake for when you really need to. And by that, I mean something legal and appropriate. :)

It doesn't help that most of the time, I stay inside my room. I know, I know, I'm bound to fall asleep quickly if I'm in my room all day. Maybe if I had some bright, modern furniture around my room, it can distract me a bit and keep me from closing my eyes for a little nap every now and then. On second thought, maybe I'll just stick to good, old-fashioned coffee. :)

Back to weight watching

Posted by austenfan at 10/29/2010 07:33:00 PM 0 comments
Our digital weighing scale ran out of battery, so we had to go back to using the analog scale to check our body weights lately. However, there seems to be a difference in our weight measurements from the two different scales. It's only about a pound or a pound and a half of difference, but still, it's confusing (and a bit frustrating) for someone who really wants to lose weight. :)

After losing about ten pounds, I've grown a bit lax on trying to lose more weight these days. I'm back to eating chocolates, donuts, and cakes, which is as I'm sure you already know, a definite no-no when it comes to managing your weight! With the way I've been constantly eating all these sweets, I definitely need to eat some food to burn fat to help me get back on my diet. Foods with less fat are a bit tasteless, which I think is the reason people refuse to go on a diet. It's certainly the main reason why I've been putting off going back to this diet plan, but . :) How about you guys? Anyone on a diet? Tell me your success (I hope) stories! :)

Just when I think I'm ready to start on my diet again, I see this...

image taken from Red Ribbon's site

It's Red Ribbon's Chocolate Fudge Cake and whoa, does it look tempting! I haven't tried it yet, but just looking at the picture, I know it'll taste awesome. Uh, why am I talking (and salivating over) about a cake? And it's not just a cake, it's a (superduperyummy) chocolate cake, so that's guaranteed to have double the fat content. Wah. I must control the urge. Haha.

Tried this yet? Any favorite types of cake you'd like to share? :)

Some tips on saving.

Posted by austenfan at 10/28/2010 08:37:00 PM 0 comments
I know I'm not an expert when it comes to talking about how to save, but I'll try all the same to talk about it. These things I'm about to tell you are just some ordinary things I do that I think might be able to help you if you really want save more money.

1. Whenever you're in the grocery, look at the price tags before picking up something and putting it in your shopping cart. Compare prices before you decide on buying a specific product. Most of the time, you can get a much cheaper product (compared to the more famous one) that will give you the same quality of service.

2. Try to make use of those discounts and coupons that they give away. If you're going to buy some kitchen appliances, some aj madison coupons will definitely come in handy! You might find yourself paying a lot less than the normal price. :)

3. Keep yourself from buying things that you don't need.

4. Control your urges. No matter how much you want that Starbucks drink, just think that you can also get your caffeine fix from an instant coffee at a much lower cost! :)

Some upcoming books...

Posted by austenfan at 10/28/2010 08:22:00 PM 0 comments
In case you haven't heard of them yet, here are some upcoming books by some of the best authors (ever):

1. The Diviners (series) by Libba Bray
- This series won't be coming out for another year or so (I think). I don't know much about the series, but of course, I think it's going to be great. It's Libba Bray! :)

2. Christmas Eve at Friday Harbor by Lisa Kleypas
- Though I like her historical romance books better, Lisa Kleypas' contemporary novels are pretty good too, so I might try to read this new book as well.

I'm waiting for a lot of other releases, but I'll blogging about those some other time. :)

Ian Somerhalder is hot.

Posted by austenfan at 10/27/2010 08:48:00 PM 2 comments
Yeah, he is. That doesn't mean that I'll be avidly watching Vampire Diaries from now on, though. Don't know him or haven't heard of him yet? Here's a pic:

He does look very vampirish - definitely more vampire-like than Robert Pattinson. (Hey, I'm a Rob fan as well, so don't go thinking I'm dissing him. Haha.) I just chanced upon a scene of Vampire Diaries while I was randomly changing the channels and saw what the fuss about the show was all about. I'm actually starting to think that the major reason for girls watching the show is too see this guy. What is it about dangerously attractive guys? I always seem to gravitate more toward the dark and brooding characters than the easygoing ones. In case you're getting a little lost, I'm talking about fictional characters here. In reality, I prefer ordinary, cute guys - someone you I can hang out with wearing a shirt and mbt shoes, and not someone who'll probably always have me tongue-tied whenever I see him, much like this guy right here.

Are you watching Vampire Diaries? Can you give me another reason, besides the one involving Ian Somerhalder and his sexy, brooding looks? :)

Another Kdrama to watch out for!

Posted by austenfan at 10/24/2010 09:52:00 AM 0 comments
When I have more free time, I think I might try watching this new (at least, for me, it's new) Korean drama, Baker King Kim Tak Goo. I don't know much about the plot, but since my friend recommended it, and since I know we share the same taste in watching Korean dramas, I think I'm gonna like it too! :)

Here's a promotional picture for the series:

image is not mine and was taken from the world wide web

What is it with Korean dramas that's so entertaining, anyway? Why can't local TV producers/scriptwriters produce something like it? Or is it because we've gotten so used to these local shows that we find the Korean dramas more refreshing and interesting? And while we're on the subject, don't you think Korean women look absolutely gorgeous? They have perfect figures (figures which I don't think I'll be able to have soon, unless I use Lipofuze) and they have these amazingly white and smooth skin! Let's not even talk about their hair, cause I'm sure I'd get even more envious! Haha. Anyway, what do you think of this drama? Have you seen it before? Is it good?

Julie James has a new book!

Posted by austenfan at 10/24/2010 09:43:00 AM 0 comments
I'm definitely excited about this one! Julie James will be releasing her 4th book, A Lot Like Love, this coming March. For you fellow Julie James fans out there, I feel the same way. Why do we have to wait for so long? Haha.

A long wait it may be, but I'm sure that it'll definitely be worth it. Although I'm not a big fan of crime-related romance stories, I think I'm still going to like this one just because I haven't yet read a Julie James that didn't absolutely love!

Here's the gorgeous cover for A Lot Like Love:

I know! It looks even better than the cover for her 3rd book, Something About You, and that's saying something cause this one's so good too!

Alright, will blog for more exciting book releases!

I still love Math.

Posted by austenfan at 10/24/2010 09:00:00 AM 1 comments
Throughout grade school and high school, Math has always been my favorite subject. I know a lot of people feel the opposite, but Math has always been a fun subject for me. With Math, you get exact answers and there's no need to memorize different terminologies.

But when I got to college, I discovered that math really isn't as easy as it was before. It's not just about solving for the angles and areas of rectangles and triangles, rather, as time went on, it became more complex and confusing for me. Back then, I briefly considered going under a tutor program or maybe an online tutoring which can give me some Free math help. I stumbled upon Tutornext, an online tutoring site that can help students learn College algebra faster and easier. If I've known about this before, maybe I would have used it to help me with Factoring polynomials and Math word problems that I had a difficult learning at the start. Free homework help would definitely be a big use for some of the struggling students out there.

So, if you're having hard time learning math, just keep on trying to learn more about it. And if you like, there are online tutoring sites like Tutornext which can serve as your Math problem solver and give you some Math homework help. Hope that helped!

I'm temporarily taking this blog off my Twitterfeed account, which automatically makes a tweet whenever I have a new blog entry. Don't worry, I'll put it back on when my posts have become a little more organized. :)

By the way, remember how I talked about starting a new blog? I did start one before, but I haven't been able to update it. Now, I'm thinking about either starting a new one or if I should just continue writing on the other one. Not that I plan on blogging right away - I might start on it in a month or two.

I'm still thinking of making it a niche blog or just a personal blog. Anyway, hope other bloggers will be able to visit it once it's up. :)

I was able to watch an episode of the last season of America's Next Top Model a couple of days ago. It's been awhile, actually, since I watched watching the show since the second season ended - probably because the girl that I wanted to win - April Wilkner - didn't. That's pretty petty of me, right? Haha.

Watching the show made me realize (again) that having a fantastically beautiful face doesn't always get you the prize, seeing as the one whose picture was selected as the top for the week's challenge wasn't exactly the girl who was the prettiest among the bunch. She has a very striking appearance, yes, but not the beautiful, in-your-face, you-get-a-girl-crush-on-her kind of beautiful. :) So for those who secretly want to be a top model someday (obviously, that's not me. Haha.), don't worry if you don't have the perfect skin and face. You could always get a facial or a blackheads removal someday. Of course, you need to watch your figure, make sure it's um, fit for a model.

Okay, enough of that weird and random modeling advice. I'm off to look for another contest to join. :)

Let me talk about romance authors... :)

Posted by austenfan at 10/21/2010 10:53:00 AM 0 comments
I've always been very curious about romance authors. I wonder if they're lives are really as romantic as their books, cause if that's the case, then, wow, they must be very, very happy. Are you a romance author? Or do you have a friend who writes romance books? What are they like?

I mean, are these authors one of those super-slim people who never gets an ounce of fat in their bodies and who probably need to take some weight gain supplements just to increase their weight? Did they each meet a prince charming who swept them off their feet? Or are they (sort of) like me, who dreams of finding my perfect partner - in the most romantic way possible, hopefully! Haha.

Here's one of my favorite romance authors, Lisa Kleypas, who's a former beauty queen, seems very happy with her family, AND who writes fantastic romance novels!

Yay! A contest!

I've heard of foreigners going to the Philippines to avail of services that are much cheaper here, by that I mean education and uh, cosmetic surgeries. Sorry, I can't think of other examples (but I'm pretty sure there are lots more. Haha)! Anyway, so things should be cheaper here, right? Yeah, not necessarily.

I've talked about how much I like reading the Women's Health magazine, so I decided to look it up online to see which actress/model currently graces their international cover. You can just imagine my surprise (and envy) when I saw that 99 cents per issue sign at their site. Wow, that's almost a third of the magazine's price here. You can get all those fast weight loss tips and other diet-related articles for such a low price. Huh. I'm thinking I should probably get a US based friend who can send me those magazines monthly! Haha.

I'm not really sure why magazine prices are so high here... but... well, that's just how it is. How about you? Any ideas on why magazines are so pricey here? :)

I used to...

Posted by austenfan at 10/16/2010 12:32:00 PM 0 comments
Now, I begin this post with another list, entitled "I used to..." which - you got that right - is a list of the things I used to do or be before, and sometimes still do up to now. Haha. Here they are:

  • I used to be really conscious of my pimples. During the start of my teenage years, they just started popping up everywhere, so naturally, I was super conscious of them since everyone around me still had that perfect, flawless skin! I used to obsess about how to treat them. If I've managed to read some proactive reviews back then, I would have tried using it too. It's good that now I only get the occasional pimple or two on my face.
  • I used to be a a big, big fan of the Spice Girls. Wow, I can remember those days when I collected music magazines that mentions their names or has their pictures on them. Ginger Spice was my favorite member back ten so you could just imagine how upset it made me when I learned that she's leaving the group! Almost every song in their albums were a hit, I can't imagine anyone who wasn't a fan of the group. :)
  • I used to love watching cartoon shows like Dexter's laboratory and Little Lulu! Have you ever seen them? Now though, I think I've spent all my love for cartoons since I don't watch Spongebob squarepants as much as some of my friends do. But seriously, tell me. Is that weird of me, cause honestly, I think that's pretty normal and my friends are the ones who are a bit weird. Haha.

A few days ago, I watched the Korean movie "200 Pounds Beauty", which tells the story of an obese girl who decides to undergo a major surgery so she can finally be beautiful and sexy.

as always, image is not mine and was taken from the www

I've read a lot of love stories similar to this one. By that, I mean how an ugly duckling turns into a swan and how the one she's always loved finally notices her. However, this movie still made me (almost) want to cry. Though the filled the movie with funny scenes, they were still able to infuse those *sniff sniff* scenes that'll make you root for the heroine of the film. (Alright, no spoilers from me here.)

By the way, I don't know the Korean actress who starred here, but she looks very familiar to me. Any idea who she is (or where I might have seen her from)?

Cure for the dry lips

Posted by austenfan at 10/16/2010 09:51:00 AM 0 comments
My lips are unbelievably dry. Even though I manage to keep myself hydrated most of the time, they stubbornly remain being irritatingly dry. Plus, I have oily skin, so doesn't it necessarily follow that I shouldn't have dry lips? Apparently, that's not how it goes. But really, sometimes, I get so jealous of girls who have perfect hair, normal skin, luscious figures who probably have no need of the best diet pill for women to keep their bodies fit! Let me put some emphasis on the word "sometimes", cause no matter how much jealous I may be, I don't want people thinking I'm some kind of gorgeous girl-hater. :)

Anyway, going back to the topic... I found this amazingly good lip balm for my lips!

image is from the Blistex official site

It gives my lips a bit of color, which I need especially at times when they look so pale, without looking like I actually applied a lip color on them. Naturally, it also keeps my lips from drying and protects them from the sun. Yep, this one's definitely a keeper! :)

Looking for some blog contests!

Posted by austenfan at 10/14/2010 01:19:00 PM 2 comments
It's been a while since I last joined a blog contest. Do you a good one that's currently running or might start soon? Do tell! I love joining blog contests since while getting a chance to win really cool stuff, you get to meet lots of wonderful bloggers along the way. It's a win-win situation for both the host of the contest and the participants. :)

I used to join a lot of book-related contests (and won some of them), from which I got most of my YA books that are hard to come by here (some of them are a bit expensive too) so it saved me both the money and the hassle of scouring the bookstores looking for those books! So you see, if you haven't tried entering a blog contest before, you definitely should!

I used to plan on hosting my own contest for this blog, but I'll save it for later when I have the money and the time to give out cool prizes.

Have you ever hosted your own blog contest before? How was it? What were the prizes? :)

Sorry I haven't been blog hopping!

Posted by austenfan at 10/11/2010 07:23:00 PM 0 comments
For those blogs which I used to visit, please forgive me if I haven't been able to visit for the past several months. These coming weeks, I think I won't be able to visit other blogs at all since I need to spend less time online. Not to worry though. Once I become a little less busy, I'll be sure to drop by your blogs, read those blog entries, and comment away!

On the other hand, I think this is a good thing too. If I have been able to blog hop more, I might see all these wonderful stories about other people's amazing shopping sprees and go all envious of the new gadgets that everyone seems to be buying these days. Since I'm trying to save up, I can't go ahead and by myself an ipod nano or an ipod touch (no matter how much I really want to)! I already gave my old ipod to my mother, so I really need one. So, buying an iPhone is out of the equation (no matter how good it looks!), and so is buying a tiny iPod shuffle. :) So, with my staying away from these blog entries, I won't be that much jealous, plus, I get to keep and strengthen my resolve to not spend more than what is needed. Haha.

Also, I have a lot of comments to approve! Sorry for the delay, it's just that so many spammers have been posting totally unrelated comments on some of the entries that I had to regulate them so I can manually approve those real and meaningful ones.

They're everywhere.

Posted by austenfan at 10/11/2010 08:16:00 AM 0 comments
Aside from this one, I have a gazillion other blogs, but this is the only one that I get to regularly update. I feel sorry about it, sure, since when I started those blogs, I really did mean to keep posting entries in them. :(

Now, though, I'm planning to create a new one, and this time I really plan to make it an active blog. I want to have more blogs enrolled to PayU2Blog - which is one of the sites where I earn money online - so I can, of course, earn even more. :) I just hope PU2B approves that new blog when I send it to them for review.

How about you? Do you make money online - through your blog or any other means? Do tell how! Maybe I could try it too. :)

Let's save up!

Posted by austenfan at 10/09/2010 10:00:00 PM 0 comments
Lately, I've been becoming really into saving up and trying to learn how to invest money wisely. That sounded very mature and adult-like of me (which is a good thing, might I add). I've recently opened a BPI Maxi-saver account, which earns higher interest than the ordinary savings account. Have you guys heard of it yet? I suggest you try it! If you have some money which you have no plan of spending, just save it there since they'll be giving you an additional 1% interest whenever you don't make a withdrawal in a month. Sounds good, right? :)

Anyway, why did I suddenly become so serious about saving money? Er, why wouldn't I be? It's what everyone should do! :) If someday, you'd like to own a beautiful house, complete with all the appliances and futons with slipcovers, it's what you should do too! And the earlier you start on saving up, the earlier you can get to fulfilling that dream. Forgive me if that sounded like an insurance commercial. Haha.

I'm planning to learn how to invest in stocks too. From what I heard, it's a great source of passive income as well. Do you know anything about it? Care to tell me about it? :)

Posted by austenfan at 10/09/2010 09:48:00 PM 0 comments
Post tests for the review have just been concluded so now I need something to take my mind off it, so I don't get crazy stressing myself over it. Well, I should be stressing myself since the date for the real exams is fast approaching, but just for this moment, I think I need to have some relax time - even if it's just for a few minutes or so.

Anyway, have you ever thought how nice it feels to just type and type? Seriously, I love the clicking noise that the keyboard makes every time I punch on one of its letters. It makes me want to keep typing on and on and on. I've become quite adept at typing too, which is probably due to countless hours of staying in front of the computer doing research papers and test plans. Being able to type out words without looking at the keyboard gives me this sort of feeling of fulfillment, no matter how shallow it may seem. :) I'm not sure why, I guess it has something to do with how I've always admired my mother whenever I watch her type without bothering to look at the keyboard (back when I was in grade school, I think). I thought it would really be cool to be able to do that. Now that I can do it as well, I can say that yeah, it is still pretty cool. :)

Women's Health love

Posted by austenfan at 10/07/2010 11:41:00 AM 0 comments
I've said it before and I'll say it again: I LOVE reading Women's Health. In fact, I always make it a point to get a copy of a new issue every month! This month, they have Angel Aquino on their cover and I love them even more for it . :)

Whenever I see one of Angel Aquino's numerous commercials on TV, I can't help but feel admiration (and yeah, a little bit of envy) for her. I mean, come on, have you seen her? She has great skin, hair, pretty face, and a fantastic body - which is, of course, a given since she is after all a model. But still, I know she isn't young, but she still looks like she's in her twenties! No wonder beauty product companies keep picking her as an endorser. With her looks and body, she'll look good in anything - especially with some dereon jeans on!

Okay, this is one reason why reading Women's Health is not good for me. I end up feeling all insecure about my body and jealous of the models with their perfect skin and bodies that always fill the pages of the magazine. Must really get on with my diet! :)

Sometimes, no matter how much you tell yourself that you can't be distracted from whatever it is that you're doing, you just can't help but take a break and look for something - anything - else to do. This is one of those times.

I still have SO much to study. And I need to finish all that before this Saturday aka the day of the review post-exam. You could call it a pre-board exam as well. Anyway, the point is it will be simulating the actual exams so I need to take this one seriously. Though, of course, apparently, not seriously enough since I'm not even halfway through with the scope of the exam. Okay, panicking is not allowed. Haha.

Alright, that's the end of my so-called break. I'll blog again when anything interesting comes up!

Don't have the time for books

Posted by austenfan at 10/03/2010 08:22:00 PM 0 comments
I should really stay away from bookstores. Every time I go inside one, I either end up buying a book or feeling all sad that I wasn't able to buy a book that I really wanted. Besides, I gotta save up. I can't go around buying books now that I'm no longer a student. Saving needs to be one of my priorities now.

All that is not the main reason for my shying away from books, though. If you've been by this blog for more than a couple of times, I'm sure you already know that I'll be taking the board exams this November (since I've been mentioning it in most of my blog entries) so I can't spend a lot of time reading books. Well, I can, with books like chemistry, unit operations, and so on. Haha. :)

Blogging stuff again

Posted by austenfan at 9/30/2010 10:14:00 PM 0 comments
I've been blogging for more than a year now, and I must say, it's been a very rewarding experience. It's a great way for me to unwind and just talk about anything I want to. It doesn't hurt that I'm also happy with where my blog is currently hosted as it makes blogging and customizing my layout very easy and manageable.

However, if you want to build a site for business reasons, it would be better to invest in a reliable web hosting service provider to make sure that your site is always up and accessible to possible readers and viewers. Nowadays, there's no sweat in putting up a new site since there are a lot of web hosts to choose from. You can check out this particular site and see if you'd like to try their managed hosting services. They also offer some colocation plans, if you're interested in them. Hmm, putting up a business site doesn't seem so daunting with all these hosting services available now. When I manage to save up some money to put up my own business, I'll definitely be putting up a site for it as well!

Internet, I need to stay away from you.

Posted by austenfan at 9/30/2010 10:05:00 PM 0 comments
Starting today, I am going to be very serious about cutting back on the hours I spend on the internet. Everyday, when I tell myself that I'm just going to check my e-mails and other necessary stuff on the net, I often find myself pointlessly wandering the net hours later. It's so frustrating that I can't seem to stop myself from doing it.

Now, since the month of October is already coming, I can't let it stay that way anymore. Focus, I need you badly now. No more lounging around Facebook and looking for some showbiz gossip online for me now. Haha.

Don't worry, though, I'm still going to blog regularly. I still need to keep this blog up and running! :)

Where I talk about scrubs

Posted by austenfan at 9/29/2010 09:01:00 PM 0 comments
As I'm sure you already know, nursing is currently the most popular college course in the country. It seems like for every 1 person taking up an engineering course, there's an equivalent hundred nursing students. I know, it's a lot, I just hope more jobs will become available for the new nursing graduates soon.

With all of these students, I'm sure there's an equally large demand for some cheap nursing scrubs. If you're a newly practicing registered nurse or doctor, you may want to check out this site that offers cheap scrub tops for those in the medical profession. They look very comfortable and even a bit stylish. Who knew these scrubs could look fashionable? They come in different colors too, which I'm sure every woman will like! They're cheap as well, making them ideal for those that will be newly practicing their professions. The site offers some very professional-looking cotton lab coats that I think would look great on any medical professional.

If by any chance, you (my dear reader) are a medical professional and are looking for some medical uniforms, hope this entry helped! :)

Rainy days and Mondays

Posted by austenfan at 9/27/2010 03:07:00 PM 0 comments
They don't get me down, but I find that I feel a little less energetic whenever they come, especially if its both a rainy day and a Monday. Based from the thunder I'm hearing right now, it looks like today is one of them.

I like rain when it just pours in mildly, like a shower. It's nice to be at home and lie in bed and listen to the the water droplets make contact with the ground (or any other surface). I don't like (and I'm sure everyone else does not too) heavy rains that go on for so long, especially when I'm at a place that easily attracts flood so you'd have to wear rain boots to walk to wherever it is that you have to go to.

As for Mondays, I'm sure students and working people agree with me here. It's the start of another long week and the end of the weekends. Of course, since I'm not a student anymore, I don't mind it that much. :)

Don't mind this post.

My finger just got caught and squished by the doorknob. And as I'm sure you can imagine very well imagine, it was... yeah, of course, it hurt! Now you ask, who does that? Who gets her finger caught in a doorknob? Uh... me, apparently. I guess my clumsy side decided to show itself after being kinda dormant for a period of time. Haha.

You see, I'm not very athletic so I guess it follows that I'm sort of the clumsy side too. I'm not sure, but I'm beginning to think that I don't like sports that much due to my not-so-admirable physical balance and coordination (also known as clumsiness). Is it the other way around? Is my clumsiness due to my aversion to sports? Oooh, that's something to think about. Who knows? Maybe once I know the answers to these questions, I'll be able to lose this clumsiness of mine. :)

What do you think? Do you have any clumsy-turned-super athlete story for me? Do tell!

Have you ever noticed?

Posted by austenfan at 9/24/2010 09:04:00 AM 0 comments
Sometimes, there are just those things we wonder about or notice - just, you know, random things. Here are some of mine:
  • There always seem to be something in the works. What I mean is, there's always some construction going on by the roads I pass by. It's either a repair on a road or a new building. Here's the irritating part: it always seem to take ages before they're completed. So, of course, the traffic becomes congested and people end up late for whatever it is they have to do and... well, you know the rest. They don't even display enough warning signs when they should be putting up osha signs all over the place for the public's safety.
  • There's always a new gadget out in the market. Just when you thought that you've bought the coolest laptop with all these amazing specs, you'll see an ad on TV or a newspaper of a new kind for the same (or even cheaper) price. :( Oh well, that's what you get for rushing in. It's better to do some research before you go buying stuff.
  • Everyone wants to be a celebrity. Well, who can blame them? They're beatiful, famous AND get loads of money. Enough said. :)
As usual, I can't think of anything more right now. Will put up another list (a sort of part two for this) when I can think of more.

Never ever put your email out on the internet. If you have to do it, do it in this format:
username [at] domain [dot] com
Believe me. I've tried leaving my email in some random site and I started getting all these spam. It's a good thing Google Mail filters them out and puts them in the Spam folder or else my inbox will be filled with these nonsense e-mails and then I'll get annoyed and never open my inbox again. Uh... not really. Haha. My e-mails are pretty important to me so I might still check them out. :)

But really, if you do value your e-mail account, do not (ever) put it in any site that isn't remotely secure. There. I'm giving you advice that I wish someone else had given me before I started leaving my e-mail address out there on world wide web.

Hope this helps!

Will try to be frugal

Posted by austenfan at 9/22/2010 10:32:00 PM 0 comments
Since I don't have a monthly source of income anymore, I need to save up. And when I say that, I really mean it. No more impulse book buying for me, no matter how tempting it is. Of course, I'm not making promises. I'm not sure I could help myself if another Shopaholic book comes out this year - which I think is highly unlikely since the latest one just came out a month or so ago. :)

So yeah, I need to restrain myself. I'd rather go for instant coffee than get something from Starbucks or any other fancy coffee house. I must not give in to my craving for a new phone or some other type of gadget. I need to start trying to be thrifty now if I want to be successful in life and be able to buy myself a home, a car, and yes, of course, a necessary insurance like the Medicare part D plan. Okay, maybe I'm getting way overboard here. :)

Actually, this could present some other advantages for me. If I keep myself from buying books (and reading them) that I don't really need as of the moment, I would get to spend more time actually reading some review materials. :) Alright, then!

Might watch it...

Posted by austenfan at 9/22/2010 09:38:00 PM 2 comments
I'm probably the only one (of course I'm exaggerating here) who does not watch Glee. You know Glee? The super popular show that everyone's talking about? I'm not really sure why, but I'm not finding myself curious enough to try watching a single episode of it. I did plan to watch back then, when the first episode has just come out. But due to some reasons that I cannot remember now, I never got around to watching it. Now that it has become so popular, it seems like my slight interest to see it has ebbed away. Don't ask me why. Haha.

But now that the country's Charice has joined the cast, I'm once again finding myself curious about the show. Don't get me wrong. I'm not a fan of Charice or anything, though, I don't dislike her either. I guess I'm just curious that way. Maybe you could even call it shallow (though, of course, I will vehemently deny it). :)

Anyway, for those of you who faithfully wait(s) for a new episode of Glee, care to convince me try watching it? :)

Chair love

Posted by austenfan at 9/21/2010 09:38:00 PM 0 comments
I'm sure that if you watch Gossip Girl, you're another big fan of the Blair and Chuck team-up. If you're not a big fan, at least you're a bit fond of them? I can't imagine anyone else isn't! But of course, that's just me being biased since I've loved the two of them ever since that first episode of the show!

The new season is off to a promising start. At least, I think so, from what I've seen of the first two episodes. There haven't been any major happenings that will make you go all "Oh my gosh!" nor has there been any new baby announcements, like the one where Georgina Sparks turned up pregnant and claimed that the child is Dan's. Well, we'll still have to wait to see how that one turns out.

Anyway, the point is, this season looks good. The characters are maturing, though not that much, I hope, because if they are, that wouldn't be too much fun now, would it? :)

Loves exfoliating!

Posted by austenfan at 9/21/2010 08:05:00 PM 0 comments
After such a long time, I finally had the time (and inclination) to exfoliate my face again! I don't know what got into me that I put off doing it for a long while. Have you ever tried it? It's feels really good. I really feel like I'm cleaning my face very thoroughly. By the way, I use St. Ives Exfoliating Scrub. Um, I'm not sure if that's the exact name of the product, though. :)

I love how my face feels smooth and oil-free after I'm done exfoliating my skin. If I could do it to my whole body, then I would! Come to think of it, I think there's already an acne body wash that's available in the market. Is it like an exfoliating body scrub? Hmm. But then again, I've never tried exfoliating my whole body so I don't know if I will like the experience all that much. Haha.

It feels good to do something extra-nice for your body once in a while. Hmm, maybe I'll get a body massage next. Yep, going to the spa sounds like a good plan. I'm so jealous of my friends who've tried going to the spa before, especially since I've never been in one! I heard there are even spas that offer free food (for a relatively cheap price)? That definitely sounds good to me!

Not very photogenic.

Posted by austenfan at 9/20/2010 05:51:00 PM 0 comments
Whenever I take a picture of myself, I don't always get that picture-perfect shot that I'm hoping for. Actually, most of the time, I'm not satisfied with the picture I end up with. My eyes always seem to small or my hair's all over the place. Sometimes, it seems like my face is too fat or my body's too small (by this, I mean my height, not that I'm slim or anything) making me want to buy human growth hormone. Anyway, the point is that... I'm not very photogenic.

I'm not sure if it's the case of being not photogenic or if I just don't take a lot of care with my appearance before I take a picture of myself. On second thought, I think it's the latter, since my yearbook photos turned out okay. Well, they were better than usual shots. :)

Hmm, I guess I'd have to take better care of my face first before facing the camera. After all, I'm sure people would much rather look at better-looking photos of me. Naturally, I'd much rather look at pictures of me if I look good on them! :)

Books I'd love to come out!

Posted by austenfan at 9/20/2010 05:22:00 PM 0 comments
I have my own favorite authors from most of the genre of books that I read. But the ones closest to my heart (ahem, sorry for the melodrama. Haha.) are my favorite romance authors! When a new book comes out from any of them, I'll definitely be raring to go read those! Here they are:

1. Julie James
I have yet to read a Julie James book that I did not absolutely love. Still, out of her three books, the one I like most would still have to be "Just the Sexiest Man Alive." It's a very fun and lighthearted read! I'm looking forward to her 4th book - I'm sure I'll love it too. :)

2. Rachel Gibson
Reading a Rachel Gibson has always been a delight. I especially love reading the characters' witty lines. Of the bunch, I guess my favorite is "Truly Madly Yours" since it's sort of has an unrequited love story - which is one of my favorite plot lines to read!

3. Judith McNaught (historical only)
Judith McNaught's historical romances make up most of my list of favorite historical romances ever. It's too bad that she's stopped writing them, though, I do hope she'll write another one again soon.

That's all for now. If another author makes it to my must-read list, I'll make sure to blog about it. :)

I miss reading YA.

Posted by austenfan at 9/19/2010 08:36:00 PM 0 comments
Reading young adult books has always been a great stress reliever for me. Every time I read YA book, I feel happy and relaxed and just worry-free. Though most of the time, YA books are underestimated by some, I find the stories behind them to be fun and interesting.

I also read some adult (and somewhat serious) and yes, I also enjoy reading them. It's just that reading YA brings a different kind of joy to me as a reader. It's like I'm in totally different worlds when I compare what I feel when I read YA and adult books. I like them both, though, despite their difference.

Another thing I like about reading young adult books is that they make me feel young. Although I can barely call myself a young adult anymore... well, it's still okay! Books are for everyone! Haha. I know I need a regular those of YA or else I may age easily and need to use an eye wrinkle cream regularly! (By the way, I already have an eye cream in fear of developing some premature wrinkle lines. Haha.)

Things to do (part 3)

Posted by austenfan at 9/19/2010 08:27:00 PM 0 comments
I don't remember much of what I wrote in the second installment of my things to do blog entry. But here's another lost of what I need to do in the upcoming days:
  • Memorize! Yes, I need to make write down all the formulas that I would need to memorize for the upcoming exam. Whoa. There's so much to memorize... so much that I almost don't want to think about it. Haha.
  • Vitamins! I need to buy vitamins and take them regularly to keep my strength up so I can stay up late at nights to study. Aside from taking some vitamin C, I'm also thinking of trying out some vitamin E. I heard it's really good for the skin and with all these sleep-deprived days, I really need something to do wonders for my skin. :)
  • Lessen the time I spend on the internet and on watching TV. In turn, I need to use the time on doing more of - you know it - studying. :)
  • Try to get back to my weight loss plan. This has really taken a back seat lately, but now that I'm gaining some weight again, I need to regulate my eating habits again and do more exercises!

Anyone else missing watching Chuck? Don't worry, cause it'll be back this coming September 20 - which is only two days away! In case you're wondering, I meant September 20 in the US, so that means around Tuesday on Philippine time. :)

I'm definitely looking forward to this new season. I can't wait to watch more of the Buymore staff's crazy antics, John Casey's witty lines, and of course, Chuck and Sarah together! :)

Also, the next episode of the new season of Gossip Girl is coming next week too. It's a good thing two of my favorite TV shows' new seasons are finally here again!

I can't help it.

Posted by austenfan at 9/18/2010 01:05:00 AM 0 comments
Though most of the time, I find it shallow to keep watch of the latest Hollywood or local entertainment gossip, I still find myself listening to these entertainment news shows or searching for the latest juicy details on the internet. Never mind that some of these celebrities only care about looking good in front of the camera, wearing the best clothes and staying super slim (I don't know how they do it, either they only eat healthy food or ask other people what is the best diet pill for women.). I still find the little stories that reporters always seem to find out interesting and most of the time, even amusing.

Oh well, I guess we all need ways to relieve some of the stress in our lives. And turning to the latest gossip is a sure way (at least for me) to relax and unwind a bit. Haha. How about you? Don't you just like hearing a little bit of entertainment gossip? :)

By the way, this post was not meant to mock celebrities. I just wanted to talk about how I can't help but like hearing a little bit of showbiz news. :)

Surrounded by books!

Posted by austenfan at 9/16/2010 09:48:00 PM 0 comments
Yep, every time I sleep, I'm surrounded by books. Only, it's not of the fictional kind. They're purely for review purposes. :) The exams are just two months away. Now, I have to keep myself from panicking. Focus and determination is what I need right now. And oh yeah, something to keep me up until the wee hours of the night.

Now that I'm sure I'll be facing sleep-deprived days in the coming weeks, I need to take better care of my skin so that the signs of stress does not show. Before I know it, zits will be popping all over my face, though I really hope they don't. It's a good thing that there are a lot of ways to treat acne these days, if ever I develop it. Again, I really hope I don't. By the way, if you're having problems with acne, you can click here for acne skin care. You might find something to treat your acne from that site.

I'll be getting back to my reviewers and notebooks then. I hope the caffeine I had today will be enough to keep me awake.

Gossip Girl!!!!

Posted by austenfan at 9/14/2010 09:38:00 PM 0 comments
So, I've just read that the 4th season premiere of Gossip Girl aired last Monday. Whoa! How could have I forgotten that? I need to watch it, like, right now! Haha.

I can't wait to see Blair and the rest of the cast strutting of in their oh-so-fashionable clothes, which I'm sure they've acquired with their countless credit cards. Yep, they have lots of them. I don't even have a credit card - still don't have enough money to get one. By the way, I don't really know much about credit cards, but I've read that you can go to this site if you want to get your credit score for free.

Now, I need to look for a site that streams the first episode of the 4th season. I can't wait to see Chuck and Blair together again! Yay! :)

I'm wide awake right now, thanks to the mocha frappuccino I had earlier. It was light-blended, in case you'd like to know, which I'm sure you don't. Haha. Anyway, it's a good thing I drank coffee earlier since I plan to stay up late tonight. Coffee doesn't always does the trick of keeping me awake, but let's see how this one will do.

On to other things, I'm thinking that I need to schedule my blog entries here. By that, I mean writing entries in advance and having them published at a set date and time. I'm still not sure how to set that one up, though I think it'll be easy to figure it out.

By the way, have you guys ever tried scheduling your posts? How was it? As of the moment, I can't think of writing something that isn't totally random. You see, that's how I usually write my entries. Well, not all of them, but you get what I mean. Most of the time, I just type what comes out of my mind. :) Still, I hope you find my blog entries to be still acceptable. If you don't, my apologies, and I'll definitely try to make them better. :)

Saving up...

Posted by austenfan at 9/12/2010 09:06:00 PM 0 comments
How do you usually save money? Hmm, let me rephrase that. What do you usually save up for? Do you save money to buy a new phone or some other type of gadget? Or do you save up for something bigger and long-term, like a car, house, or insurance - the prices of which, by the way, you can compare here.

I can't really answer that question since I don't have that much money to save. Haha. But if I do have some money, I would definitely prioritize saving up for what I really need rather than what I want as of the moment. I know, I know, it's easier said than done. Well, theoretically speaking, that's what I think I would do anyway. :)

Sometimes, though, the urge to buy something new and cool for yourself can be really overwhelming. What can you do when that happens? Hmm, just think about how you'll feel if you have saved that money instead of splurging it on impulse buying. It works okay for me. Hope it does for you too!

Congrats UP Pep Squad!

Posted by austenfan at 9/12/2010 08:57:00 PM 0 comments
Congratulations to the UP Pep Squad for winning the UAAP Cheerdance Competition! Yay!

I wasn't able to watch it live (either in the venue itself or on TV) since I attended the Sunday review class for the board exam. (I had to eat lunch alone since my lunch mates have all left by that time - to watch the competition, I'm pretty sure.) But still, I'm glad I was able to watch the replay.

UP Pep Squad rocks! You can never expect mediocrity and non-uniqueness (Okay, I'm not sure if there really is such a word. Haha) from this lot! :)

When I was a child...

Posted by austenfan at 9/11/2010 07:31:00 PM 0 comments
Let me tell you a few things about me from way, way back. :)

1. I used to want to be a doctor. Yep, I wanted to pursue a health care career and would answer "to help people" whenever people asked my why I wanted to be a doctor. I'm sure every child underwent that phase in their life too. Haha.

2. My favorite food was corned beef. Don't get me wrong, I still like eating it now. It's just that I won't consider it as my favorite now.

3. I was never any good at playing Chinese garter. While all my classmates were playing it, I just sat there, watching by the sidelines. I don't know why, but I can't jump that high!

4. I had this "pose" that I make whenever someone takes a picture of me. Please don't ask me to describe it. Haha.

5. I never thought of being an engineer. I thought it was only for men. Well, it turns out I was wrong. :)

How about you? Any things about your little self you'd like to share? :)

Just a random post

Posted by austenfan at 9/09/2010 09:49:00 PM 0 comments
I had to blog to take my mind off things. I'm not really in the mood for anything serious so let's just make this quick and fun, okay? So... hmm, let's talk about food! (Haha, you knew I would say that!)

Here's a list of my favorite things to munch on (or sip/drink):

1. Donuts -Yay! Who doesn't love donuts? I'm not particular with the brand - if it's bread w/ sweet glazing on top, then I'd love it. :)

2. Fries - I know, it's very unhealthy. I mean, think of all the trans-fat that's in it, but hey, what can I do? They're so yummy, and when dipped in ketchup-mayo sauce - just plain delicious!

3. Mocha with whipped cream - One of my comfort foods! I've tried going with the fat-free version by skipping out on the whipped cream, but it just doesn't taste the same. :)

4. Cakes - My favorite ones are the blueberry cheesecake, chocolate cake, chocolate marjolaine (Did I spell it right?), and Chocolate Kiss's Devil's Foodcake. Yum!

Missing the shows

Posted by austenfan at 9/08/2010 10:14:00 PM 0 comments
I definitely miss watching my two favorite TV shows - Chuck and Gossip Girl. I think the first episodes of their 4th seasons will be starting this September, so it will not be much of a long wait.

I'm missing all the spy action from Chuck. I'm hoping I would get to see Chuck soon, looking really cool and very much a spy, driving a Ferrari, complete with its Ferrari parts. Of course, I miss the comedy part as well. Watching Chuck's coworkers at the Buymore is always laugh-out-loud entertaining.

I think I might have to watch the last episode of Chuck's third season, though. I can't really remember it all that much - except for the major parts, of course.

The new season of Gossip Girl seems exciting too - there's going to be a new angle on the Chuck-Blair team-up (I think), which I'm sure I'm going to love. Who am I kidding? I always like it when I see them together onscreen. :)

Let's talk about e-mail.

Posted by austenfan at 9/08/2010 09:59:00 PM 0 comments
I have this problem with my inbox. It's always full - full of random e-mails, most of which, I don't even bother to read. I'm thinking of un-subscribing to some of the mailing groups that I belong to; but every time I decide to do it, I can't go through with it, thinking that I might receive some important mail from it.

As a result, whenever I check my inbox everyday, I have over a hundred unread messages. So, of course, I just mark those unimportant ones as read without reading them. And then, there are the spam messages. On second thought, let's not a talk about that. Haha.

Anyway, how about you? How's your inbox?

Wants a new laptop

Posted by austenfan at 9/07/2010 09:13:00 PM 0 comments
Lately, I've been getting really irritated with my laptop. It's really slowly starting to deteriorate. Well, I can't blame it since I've had it for more or less three years now. But still, one can't help but think of buying a new laptop, like maybe an Acer Aspire to replace this slow little machine.

What exactly are my problems with it (in case you're wondering)?

First, the battery is not working at all. It's like a desktop computer. When you disconnect the electricity source from it, it automatically shuts down. This actually defeats the purpose of having a laptop - which is to have a machine that you can bring anywhere.

Also, it now runs super slow. Sometimes, it even hangs for no apparent reason at all. I'm sure you've all experienced this with your computers, but with this one, it occurs so frequently that I don't know when and where it will choose to be reliable for me.

Are you getting my point now? I'm sure you all want to tell me to just go ahead and buy a new one. Of course, I want to. However, I need to save up first! :)

Things to do (part 2)

Posted by austenfan at 9/07/2010 09:05:00 PM 0 comments
It's about time that I do a blog entry on some of the things I need to do in the coming days/weeks. Not that I'm saying that blogging makes it more easier for me to fulfill them - it's just nice to have it all in writing. That way, I won't forget it that easily.

  1. Stay away from Facebook. - I know. It's an odd thing to put on my to-do list, but since most of my friends on Facebook seem to be doing the same, I might as well go ahead and join. :) I really need to do this since I have to...
  2. Study! - I've been saying this A LOT. Now, if only every time I said it, I have been able to do some actual studying. The board exam is coming so I need to focus on my review classes, and of course, on my self-study sessions.
Those are the things I can think of right now. I'll just make another list when I have to add more! :)

Random thought (part 2)

Posted by austenfan at 9/04/2010 05:45:00 PM 0 comments
Whenever I see boys and girls in uniforms or read how my Facebook friends complain about schoolwork from my news feed, I just feel relieved that I'm over it. I'm over the never ending exams, projects, papers, and reports. Sometimes I think that I would not like to ever go back to it again.

But at times, I miss school too. Yes, I'm actually saying it. Haha. I never thought I'd ever say it, but at times I also think about how going to school is easier than actually having to work, think of ways on how solve a particular task, and be responsible for the outcome of the project you have, which not only affects you, but a whole lot of other people too.

Actually, I miss doing laboratory stuff too, like putting on my protective wear - lab gown, glasses, and safety gloves - and mixing and heating chemicals up. They were a bit difficult, but fun, nonetheless.

Yeah, I do kind of miss school. But when payday comes, I feel grateful all over again, and forget all about it. :)

Here comes the -ber months.

Posted by austenfan at 9/04/2010 05:35:00 PM 0 comments
Yep, it's September already, which means... there's only a little more than two months left before the days. If you don't already know yet, by day, I mean the board exam. I can feel the panic slowly creeping up on me. Wow, two months. I can't believe it it's only two months away.

Ok, I must not panic. How do you even do that? Think of other things? Try to put it off your mind? Only, I can't do that cause I have to think about it. I have to. :)

By now, I'm already planning on how I can keep myself awake for the late nights I'm sure are to come. Coffee? Countless little cookies? That energizer drink (which goes by the name of a type of snake) that everyone apparently seems to think is bad for your health but have at least, once, drank a bottle, anyway?

Blogging again

Posted by austenfan at 8/31/2010 08:23:00 PM 0 comments
After more than a week (or is it two weeks?) of staying away from blogging, here I am returning to the blogging community. It's not that I suddenly thought of something clever and interesting to say. It's just that I suddenly wanted to type - just type some random things that you may or may not want to read. Well, of course, I do hope that you'll stay long enough to read this entry.

I currently have the cold. To be accurate, I have the cold coupled with cough (which, really, naturally follows once you catch the cold). Now, I don't really like the feel of having the cold plus cough combination. Whenever I'm in this condition, I often find myself consuming lots of tissue from sneezing or rushing off to the sink to get off that unwanted phlegm. Of course, if we had some Moen kitchen faucets installed at our sink, I'm sure I wouldn't mind so much going to the sink oftentimes.

By the way, do you have any cold/cough treatment that you'd like to recommend? Something that you've tried and tested? Just drop me a comment, okay?

I know I shouldn't.

Posted by austenfan at 8/15/2010 09:07:00 PM 0 comments
I know I shouldn't buy a new book, but one of the books I've been awaiting is finally here. Yep, as in available here in the Philippines!

Linger is the sequel to Maggie Stiefvater's Shiver, which I absolutely loved. And from the reviews I've read of Linger, I think this one's going to be even better! :) Well, you know me, if it's romantic, I am definitely going to read it. Haha. I'm not sure if it's available in other book stores besides Fully Booked, but I sure hope it is. They're currently selling it for - wait for it - 799 pesos. Whoa. Hmm, I think they need a little competition to make them mark down the price. A little book store competition will definitely be good for my wallet. :)

Missed blog hopping

Hello there, dear fellow bloggers! Sorry I haven't been able to visit your blogs as much as I used to before. It seems like lately, I've had to do a gazillion things in such a short amount of time. I haven't even been able to update my other blogs - which I must definitely remedy soon.

Hmm, what else? Oh yeah, I missed reading books! It's a good thing the release of Mockingjay, The Hunger Games series' third installment will be out soon, like, in a couple of weeks. In case you haven't read the other books yet, I'm telling you, better start reading them now. I'm sure you won't regret it. :)

Anyway, let me go back to the subject of blog hopping. I'll try to visit some of your blogs soon and hopefully, I'll be able to leave some comments as well. Happy weekend, everyone! :)

Who loves Math?

Posted by austenfan at 8/13/2010 10:31:00 PM 0 comments
Growing up, I wasn't really your typical grade school (or even high school) student. One of the most striking differences I had with my classmates is that I liked math. It was even my most favorite subject back then. I'm not saying that it's easy. It's just that it's challenging, and when you get to solve something that's very challenging, well, it gives you a very satisfying feeling. :)

How about you? Ever had problems with math? If you had, you can try enrolling in some online K-12 and college tutoring classes. I'm pretty sure once you've gotten the hang of it, you'll learn to love your 4th grade math, 5th grade math, and even Algebra 2. Numbers aren't really that confusing, you know. Soon, you'll be Adding fractions and Graphing linear equations just for fun. :) Haha. Imagine, turning from a math-hating student to an incredibly good math geek! You can even impress your friends by showing off your knowledge on the Formula for volume of different figures.

Okay, forgive me for this very geeky post. It's just that I'll be taking the board exam soon so I need to motivate myself to love math more. And if I can motivate others along the way, then that would be even better. :)

Whatever happened to the images?

Posted by austenfan at 8/06/2010 12:08:00 AM 0 comments
Before, most of the time, I make it a point to include some pictures in my blog entries just to liven things up. Let's face it. When you see a big block of nothing but text, sometimes you'd just get too lazy to read them after the first few lines. So I made it a point to include some images so I can catch the reader's attention.

Lately, I haven't been able to put in any pictures at all. Why? Err... let's just say it takes a lot of time. Plus, it's hard to find an interesting image to come with my blog posts. Haha. So, my excuses if you find the entries boring. I'm a pretty ordinary girl, anyway, so don't expect uber hilarious entries from this blog. Haha.

I'll get back to my notes now. Till my next post! :)

How to not sleep (tips)

Posted by austenfan at 8/04/2010 09:05:00 PM 0 comments
I know, I know. What right do I have to give advice on ways to stay awake even when all you want to do is lie on your comfy mattress and sleep? Well, I can try to give some tips that I think might help, though of course I'm not claiming that I always follow them or that they always work for me.

Okay, here are some of those tips:

1. Make sure that you have a glass or bottle of water nearby. Water helps make you feel energized for the long hours that you intend to stay up for.
2. If water helps, then so does food. Eating snacks can help you fight of sleepiness. However, I don't really recommend this one especially if you're trying to lose weight (like me). Haha.
3. Make sure that you're actually doing what you are supposed to be doing. Get busy! Once you're busy, you'll fight off the urge to close your eyes.
4. Don't go thinking that you'll just take a short nap, then wake up feeling all refreshed. I'm not sure if you've tried doing this before, but it does not do the trick for me at all. Haha.

Time to focus

Posted by austenfan at 8/01/2010 09:25:00 PM 0 comments
Today is the first day August. That means there's only a little more than three months before I take the board exams. You know what that means... I really need to start studying the necessary lessons more seriously. Earlier, I wrote down all the concepts that I needed to learn for this month. Seeing them listed there can be a little daunting, I must admit. However, it also seemed to serve as a wake up call and a sort of motivation. :)

Who knows? If I can really manage to study all those unit operations in a month, I would not have to search for some fat burners that work to lose some weight. Of course, I don't mean that I want to lose so much weight to the point of being unhealthy. I would be satisfied if I could lose ten pounds more or so. Haha.

I hope I can manage to observe the study schedule that I set so I would not have to cram some of the subjects that I need to learn. How about you? Any study habits that you care to share? It can be anything, as long as it has worked great for you. :)
