Announcement: New Blog... and New Pagerank?

Posted by austenfan at 5/28/2009 10:56:00 AM 8 comments
Hi everyone! I haven't been able to post regularly these days as I've, once again, become addicted. To reading. And I've started a new blog! :) Not too may posts on that one yet, but do try to visit it for updates on my latest obsessions! LOL.

So there. Just click on the image below (I hope the link works).

C'mon, CLICK! (Haha, I sound so desperate)

Forgive me for the super uninspired badge; I still need to work on my meager Adobe Illustrator skills. :)

And oh, have you noticed a pagerank increase/decrease on your blog? Do tell me if I'm hallucinating since I just saw a PR 2 on this blog from my Google toolbar. Wee. I hope it stays that way!

It's So Hot Sometimes I Just Wanna Go Bald.

Posted by austenfan at 5/27/2009 10:22:00 PM 0 comments

Maybe just cut my hair really short. Like that of a boy's. Which I'd done by the way, back in my high school senior year. I know! What was I thinking, right?! haha. But seriously, I have to do something with it as the weather is just like... define summer. :p

Any suggestions what cut to go with?

In the meantime, here's a little survey on hair love:

It's a day where the US commemorates all the military men and women who died in service of their country. Were you aware of that fact?

We Just Wanna Have Fun!

Posted by austenfan at 5/23/2009 10:19:00 PM 2 comments
At the last day of our Eng 30 class, we (as in the whole class) presented our group proposals. Ours was on Waste Reduction through Alternative Means of Product Distribution. GEEKY, I know! LOL. I and my groupmates, smug human beings that we were, thought that our proposal was the best and designated ourselves as the other groups' critics. My (or our) bad. But we were bored AND nervous at the same time, so that's what we did. :p

One of the groups reported on the deterioration of the quality of Philippine television. They cited several examples, including the countless number of soap operas and game shows today.
I agree with them at some point. There really are too much soaps today. But their main argument didn't really sit well with me. According to them, the shows today don't provide any real intellectual or moral knowledge for the public. Not that I'm a big fan of these shows but, they're not all that bad. And most of them portray the Filipino values and culture evident in our society, which we frequently dismiss. As for the educational part? I don't think everything on TV has to be informative. Sometimes, people just watch to have fun. De-stress and all. I, for one, am guilty of using the television mainly for entertainment purposes. I'm sure some of you guys feel the same, right?

I hope nobody from that group reads this. haha. Anyway, this was not meant to diss their idea or anything. As I said, I do agree with them. At some point. :)

Free Comic Books!

Yesterday, I dropped by Fully Booked at The Block and saw this outside their store:

image from Fully Booked site

I guess that pretty much sums it up. Not that much of a comic book fan myself, but having one for free would definitely be great! Oh and maybe I can get myself that Maximum Ride manga at 20% off. :) Is that even considered a graphic novel?

So if you're not doing anything on Saturday and you just happen to be in the mall, head on over to Fully Booked and get yourself a free comic book!

Love Robert Pattinson?

Posted by austenfan at 5/17/2009 02:55:00 PM 3 comments

Then vote for him in the MTV Movie Awards! He's nominated for Best Male Breakthrough Performance. Okay, okay?

Of course, you should vote for Twilight too, but with it up against The Dark Knight, Iron Man, and Slumdog Millionaire, I don't think it has much of winning. Then again, you can never underestimate the power of giggling, gushing, gooey eyed girls (which includes me, by the way)! Wow, that's the first time I ever used alliteration. LOL.

Vote for Kristen too, if you like. :)

And oh yeah, BEST KISS!

By the way, even if you're not a fan, still... vote for him, okay???? It's easy, just sign up for an account and you're on!

Voting's only until May 27 so hurry!

Hung Up On Wolverine

Posted by austenfan at 5/16/2009 03:02:00 PM 5 comments
I finally got to watch the X-Men Origins: Wolverine yesterday. And now I'm still obsessing over it. Did I like it? Hmm, not sure cause when it comes to this stuff, I tend to get really biased (depending on the storyline). Anyway, I can't say what I really want to without giving the movie plot away so, might as well. :)

L-R: Kayla, Gambit, Logan, Victor, Wade

Here goes my thoughts/complaints/praises regarding the movie:

If you don't like spoilers, STOP now okay? :)

  • The beginning was very intense but I thought it wasn't explored more. Like why was Victor in James' (Wolverine) room at the time? And why was Victor jealous of him from the very beginning????
  • Hugh Jackman was his usual marvelous self.
  • The one who played Kayla was really - no better word for it - beautiful!
  • More Ryan Reynolds! Appearing on just the beginning and the end? And what did they do with him at the end? Unacceptable! LOL.
  • Since Gambit was just, way up there on the gorgeousness scale, I just had to look him (character) up. Then found out that Gambit was supposed to be Rogue's love interest. WHAT? Why didn't they put him in the X-Men Trilogy then? He would've been infinitely many times better than Iceman! I can just imagine him and Anna Paquin together *sigh*.
Here comes the part that just really frustrates me:
Why oh why did Logan have to forget everything? To forget Kayla and fall in love with Jean Grey? I don't know... it's just so... wrong.

Yah, I know! I'm so irrationally affected. Haha. Other than my complaints, I'd say the movie was spectacular! Great stunts, effects, acting, etc.

Oh and I forgot to mention, Daniel Henney was there (Agent Zero) so that makes 4 (for me) dreamy actors in the film. :p

Anyway, here's more on Hugh Jackman:

Craving for Chocolates!

Posted by austenfan at 5/14/2009 11:10:00 PM 3 comments
A few days ago, on my way home, I heard the MRT radio station (Yes, the MRT has its own radio station. How cool/weird is that?) report a very, very helpful and will-definitely-make-you-happy piece of information on... CHOCOLATES!

Apparently, chocolates decrease the risk of hypertension and other heart diseases. I was aware before that they do have some health benefits but no one I know seems to have any idea on the nature of these 'supposed' benefits. If you did, good for you! And if not, as Manny Pacquiao says, "Now you know!" LOL.

Ohmygosh, I'm salivating!

As of this day, I'm officially ending my self-inflicted no chocolates (as in chunks) policy.

Weeeee. Spread the chocolate madness!

Here It Is!

I'm finally done with my new layout. And no, I just downloaded it. So much for my ambitious plan to create my own. haha. Anyway, here it is! I hope you guys and gals like it! :)

In the mean time, here's a survey on buzztrendz, which, from what I understand, is a site combining Twitter and Youtube:

That's all for now. Still have an article summary + technical review to do!

A Short Break and Some Changes

Posted by austenfan at 5/08/2009 10:31:00 PM 3 comments
Due to the my loooooong line of requirements (due on Monday!), I won't be able to post anything for the whole weekend and maybe a few days after that.

I'll be changing layouts so don't get weirded out when there are still some missing widgets or links. haha. And thanks to Judie and Ria for their suggestions for my new layout! :)

What About You? Pants or Skirts?

Posted by austenfan at 5/06/2009 10:23:00 PM 3 comments
A few weeks ago, my English 30 professor asked the girls in our class how we arrange our clothes. At that time, I thought it was kind of a weird question. I mean, how do you arrange your clothes? Me? I just separate the tops from the pants, put them in clothes hangers, then voila, problem solved. Admittedly, I was a bit surprised when one of my classmates said that she *gasp* separates her clothes according to their color. Wow. She must have a lot of them.

But then again, maybe that’s just me having a limited supply of clothes (although I’d like to think it’s average, and not limited). My clothing preferences are quite simple – a top coupled with a pair of pants will do. I still need to lose a few more pounds (more than just a few, actually) before I’d be able to confidently wear some skirts and dresses. Plus, finding the right size can be a tiresome task. Imagine, just when you’ve found it, the one thing you absolutely want, just to be disappointed when no size fits you! Oh no! LOL. Don’t fret though. You can always try sites like ShopWiki, which allows you to shop for clothes online.

Hmm, wonder when I’ll be able to try that out? Probably when I have enough cash to pay for the enormous shipping fees it certainly entails. :)

Help Anyone?

I've been meaning to create my own blog template for so long. Problem is, I don't know how. When I first started this blog, I would even google terms like "how to create a blog template", "learn HTML", "create own blogger template", etc. After reading the super complex tutorials online, all I could think of was... HUH?! LOL. Naturally, I settled for the next best thing - which was to download and use a free template (like the one I'm using now). Now, I'm thinking again that I'd really want this blog to have some sort of personal touch (after all, it is a personal blog).

Can someone please help me? :p

How did you create your own template? Is there some kind of software or editor that I can use that can create the codes for me?

If you have any idea how, any idea at all (doesn't have to be expert advice), please do drop a comment here and help me out. Thanks in advance!

A New One

Posted by austenfan at 5/03/2009 05:01:00 PM 6 comments

I created a new blog (the nature of which I'd keep secret for now since it's still literally empty, except for the about me section)! Hope you'll all visit it once it launches (launches?! haha). :)

And by the way, congrats to Manny Pacquiao! I saw PBA on TV and the crowd was, well, let's just say, not up to its usual numbers. Guess boxing > basketball now. At least, where Pacquiao is concerned.

And didn't you just love Martin Nievera's version of the national anthem? :)

Nuffnang > Adgitize (At Least, I Hope So.)

Posted by austenfan at 5/01/2009 12:07:00 PM 9 comments
Several weeks back, I logged on to my Nuffnang account and saw that I've lost my Glitterati status. :( I then remembered that to maintain being in Glitterati, you're not allowed to put up any Southeast Asia based ads. The only ads I had then were Adsense, Adgitize, and Project Wonderful. After some quick deliberation, I took of my Project Wonderful ads then emailed Nuffnang about it. They replied that if there aren't any SEA ads on my blog, I should be able to get my Glitterati status back within 3 to 5 days. So I just sat back and waited.

A couple of weeks have passed and I'm still stuck with my non-exclusive membership. So earlier, I googled and looked for bloggers who've lost their Glitterati status too. And found out that Adgitize was causing it. (And they're not even SEA based!)

As of now, I've taken out the single Adgitize ad on my sidebar. I've made only above a dollar there and I think I've got a better chance of earning with Nuffnang (I hope!).

Will update when I become a Glitterati member again. :)
