That made me go *sigh*.

One of the things I love about Robert Pattinson is that he's such a great interviewee. He doesn't give out boring answers that makes you go, "Where'd I hear that before?". His answers are so completely random and crazy that you'd just be wanting for more and wishing that the interview was longer. And he's not at all awkward during the interview and continues to give this "I'm so laid-back and my hair's so messy but in a cool kind of way" vibe that I know everyone just secretly wants to emulate. Like in this one, which just had me in a smile-y state as I was reading it. It's like someone could ask him the most uninteresting questions and he can hit back with something that could either make you laugh out loud or just make you go "Aww, that's so cute!". It's funny how I started to like him cause he played Edward Cullen and now I just 'heart' him for being his weird, funny, guy-with-the-messy-hair self.

I want one. Again.

I was there, all happy and excited about my newly purchased James Patterson book when IT just showed up. And yes, of course, I couldn't take my eyes away. And silly me, I had to ask what book it was (as if I didn't know! haha). Then the saleslady started her praises on the book - how amazing it was (well, not really, but that's how I heard it. :D) and that it's 10% off! Oh, why did she have to tempt me just when I don't have enough cash with me. Okay, enough with the whole mystery book effect. Here IT is:

I can't pass this one up after failing to get a copy of the movie companion. I hate you RPattz - for draining my savings!

I just signed up on Pickjack. It's this cool site where you answer short quizzes and make some of your own. The questions are really easy and answerable. PLUS, and this is a huge plus, you get paid for it. I'm just not sure how much, but still, it's worth a try. If you're interested in joining, you can sign up as my referral (if you want, haha).

I've got it! Yeah baby, I've got it!

Posted by austenfan at 3/25/2009 10:21:00 PM 0 comments

Yey! I've finally picked up my reserved Twilight DVD! It came with this HUGE poster of the cast. And I do mean huge. :) I was so so so so excited to tell everyone about it so I decided to drop by the TCP forum to see how the ravings (I'm sure of this) 'round there are going. What greeted me was totally unexpected, instead of excited fangirls squealing and gushing, complaints were raining all over. Apparently, the released DVD here in the Philippines have lots of missing special features. And no subtitles! Um, hello? I thought all original DVDs have subtitles?!

Hmm, maybe that's why they decided to include a free poster - to soothe the mobs of irate fans. Argh.

Since I'm too sleepy now, I'd watch it tomorrow and see what features exactly are missing. I really hope the posters are enough to make up for it. Hmmmm.

PageRank Update????

Quintessential Babble is now ranked! Yes! Don't get excited though, it's only PR 0. But still, after two months of blogging and feeling down whenever I see my blog's N/A pagerank, it's a BIG improvement. Yey! :)

BTW, can you even call that a pagerank update (or my blog just getting ranked)?

Hot Shot - Jerry Yan's Back!

Posted by austenfan at 3/18/2009 07:44:00 PM 10 comments

I'm soooo excited for this one! After his phenomenal and swoon-worthy role as Dao Ming Si, now he's back as a, um, basketball player? Haha, all I know of the show is that's about basketball. :) Anyway, have I ever told you how obsessed I was with F4 back then? If you're interested to know all about my F4 addiction, read on.

  • During the Meteor Garden mania, sometimes I made my mom videotape episodes I missed while I was still in school. haha. (There still weren't any pirated copies of asian series that time)
  • I have two of F4's albums! I even memorized some of their songs even though I have no idea what they're singing about. I'm sure a lot of Filipino girls are guilty of this. LOL.
  • I created an e-group for all the Filipino fans of Jerry Yan. It had around 80 members before I decided to delete it.
  • I bought Jerry Yan's 'album' (as Comic Alley claimed), which, of course, turned out to be fake!
  • I used to participate on those picture message - ringtone exchange (I don't think you'd know this unless you were really a fanatic. haha
Back to Hot Shots:

I hope this show can create the same buzz for Jerry Yan that Meteor Garden did for him. He seems to look even better now than his Meteor Garden days. Wu Chun and Alan Lou (never heard of him before, but he looks good so yeah, that's okay, haha) are also part of the 'hot shots' cast. And once you see their pictures, you'll realize that 'hot shots' can actually be trimmed down to just 'hot'. haha. Now, I'm just babbling so that means I gotta stop. :)

Here's another treat for all you fans out there:

Don'tcha just love that pineapple hair? :)

All Over Again

Posted by austenfan at 3/15/2009 10:37:00 AM 2 comments
It kept getting better. I couldn't stop it. From day one, it had managed to evoke all kinds of emotions from me. But this one - this one's different. I wanted to keep on going, but I couldn't. I wanted to stop, but I know that doing so would only cause me restlessness and anxiety. I'm stuck here, excited yet fearful of moving on. Unable to contain feelings of wonder and dread. Not caring that I look so crazed that I was getting stares and glances. Finally I just couldn't take the suspense.
I turned to the next page.

My lips started to curve upward in a smile.

I wasn't disappointed.

I never thought I'd say this

But I'll miss my ChE 135 (lab) class! For all the late nights and headaches that it caused me, it still is my favorite subject this sem (or at least in the top two, with ChE 140). Thanks to our experiments and neverending postlab reports, the words sedimentation, screening, fluidized bed (and a lot more) have taken a whole new meaning for me. Unlike before when they were just... terms. Terms that you needed to know how to define for the exams. But ChE 135 changed all that for me. Now, they're still terms - but with added visual representations. :)

Another thing I'll definitely miss - labmates! Thanks for the 100% on the presentation thing. haha. You guys are the coolest! :)

Random lab pics:

Edgie (cute! haha) , me, Fedi (I have no idea why I had to kneel like that. haha)
(filling tubes with chalk solution for the

sedimentation experiment)

Fedi, me (standing on top of a sieve shaker), Edgie
me: super scared of the shaker toppling over. :D

Thermal conductivity: Wood, just stabilize already!

***All pics are from Bam, who's not in any of the pics. haha.

On Gyms, Saunas, and Steam Rooms

Posted by austenfan at 3/08/2009 08:41:00 PM 9 comments
The first time I went to Fitness First, I was able to use only three of their equipment: the treadmill, stationary bike, and the one where you use both arms and legs in a sort of walking (or running) motion. Despite that, I enjoyed the experience. Yesterday, I, once again, went "gym-ming" courtesy of my friend's guest pass. And that was when I was truly able to appreciate the beauty of FF and its super cool machines! There was this one equipment where you get to just sit and simulate rowing in a boat, which is probably my favorite since it takes the least effort to use. And did I mention that they have several TV screens where you can watch movies and shows while you do your thing? There's a refreshment bar, where you can get free water, soda, juice, or even make yourself a cup of coffee. Plus, computers with internet access (which you can use for free)! Yes, I'm getting really excited just talking about it. haha. Anyway, my favorite part happened right after the workout phase, which you may have already guessed from this entry's title. :)

Steam room! :D

Wow. I could, like, just stay there forever. That is if I didn't have to worry about heat strokes or getting burned. I'm not sure if steambaths have any other health benefits aside from making you feel all nice and warm, but everyone should get to try it at least once in their lives. Yep, you don't know what you're missing. lol.

Sauna - which I didn't get to enjoy. The temperature in the room must have been close to boiling point! Ten seconds in it and I want to get out already. haha. It's either I have super low tolerance for heat or sauna lovers have really thick hides. haha. Kidding.

I'm lovin' Fitness First! And itching to be a member! But for which, I'd need two things that would be impossible for the next year or so: cash and free time. sad. lol.

In the mean time, I'm hoping for gatepass-entries. :D

Chorva: Exposed

Posted by austenfan at 3/08/2009 12:08:00 AM 3 comments
I can't remember when the word suddenly became a major part of my vocabulary. One day, a classmate started using it, and I, liking the sound of it, decided to give it a try. A few days later, everyone (from school, mostly) was using it too!

The funny thing about chorva is that it can mean anything. Really. Well, that's the case for me.

One of my frequent lines is "Ang chorva mo". (meaning the person is of a chorva-ic quality)

An outsider listening to this will be totally clueless as to what I'm talking about but, the chorva person (as I had tagged her) can either laugh or get indignant, depending on the situation. For me, chorva doesn't particularly mean anything. It can have a positive, negative, or neither-of-the-two effect. You can never fully understand what the speaker means by the word chorva if you don't know the speaker well enough. It's like certain bonds with our peers enable us to understand what they want to say even when it isn't said directly.

Another example:
Q: Anong ginagawa mo (What are you doing)?
A: Chorva

If they (Q & A) are friends, then Q can immediately guess what A meant by his answer. It could be that: a) A doesn't want to tell the other person what she's doing, or b) A's doing the usual thing she does, which Q knows (at least have a clue) about.

When you think about it, chorva seems to be a pretty insignificant word. However, these days, not a single day passes that me or one of my friends fail to use the word. And I'm not sure if that's good or bad. haha.

How about you? How would you define chorva? :D

Too Bad for Kellogg's

Posted by austenfan at 3/06/2009 10:17:00 PM 6 comments
Living in a dorm leads to all kinds of decision making chores - the most common of which, in my case, is choosing where to eat dinner. I often end up having to eat fast food (McDonald's, KFC, Jollibee) which isn't really good for my overall diet. :(

Lately though, I've taken to just buying pastries or packed chicken w/ rice meals at a nearby grocery store. Earlier, as I was weaving through the Rustan's supermarket, looking 'round for potential dinner meals, I noticed a sign indicating that increased rewards/points for their Fresh cards are available for certain products. (By the way, Fresh cards are used to earn points which can be converted to GC's or even cash, I think.) So, I decided to find the said labeled products (even though I don't own a Fresh card, haha) and found that all Kellogg's products are marked. It seems that lately, people are afraid to buy the brand's products due to the whole salmonella fiasco. Even if their cereals aren't on the list, you can't blame the people for being extremely careful. Too bad for them. (I'm not really a fan of cereals so I'm not really that much affected.)

Moving on, I'm so sick of eating out (here in Katipunan, at least) but still too lazy to buy and cook ready-to-microwave foods. LOL. I miss home-cooked food!

Wherein I rant on and on and on and on

Posted by austenfan at 3/05/2009 10:30:00 PM 7 comments
I was having a hard time customizing my previous template so I had to replace it. :( Hopefully, by this time, I've put up a new layout - downloaded, of course because I basically have zero knowledge on CSS/HTML/XML or whatever language is used in creating layouts. I don't even know if language's the correct term, that's how programming-ignorant I am. :(

It's been forever since I posted an entry here. I know, I'm just exaggerating. haha. As usual, been stressed out with piles of schoolwork. This semester, almost 6/7 of my time (except for weekends and Mondays) are full of things to do for school (No, I have no idea why I divided it into sevenths. LOL.). And why why why why do exams have to go in packages? After exam #1, I only had around 30 minutes to feel all glad and relieved (just because it's over) before I had to start worrying over exam #2 the next day. After which, had a day to study for exam #3. A day! For topics I knew nothing about!

Anyway, pushing those things from my mind now. push. push. push. push. haha.

On to better things: I'm done with laboratory reports! 7 nights (once a week, I'm such a crammer. hehe) of staying up late rereading concepts from Foust and McCabe which I should have remembered from before but which I obviously do not. 7 nights of spending long hours in front of MS Excel (Can I consider myself proficient now? :D). Not to mention, 7 nights of lack of food for stressing over error bars and over what type of discussion my lab instructor would like best.

Done, done, done!

Now I'm just lounging around, wondering when and waiting for my next round of cramming marathon. :D

Jack Force - I do too!

Posted by austenfan at 3/02/2009 02:03:00 PM 6 comments
"I feel the same way about you." - Jack Force, Blue Bloods

That has got to be the most perfect line anyone can ever say to anyone. Well, not really. Let me rephrase that, the most perfect thing anyone who loves/likes someone can say to the person who loves/likes him back. It's also the same line that turned me into an unwavering, full-fledged Jack Foce fanatic, lol.

Seriously, it's so true. Love should always be equal on both sides, right? It's not fair for the one giving more back. And even if theoretically, it sounds all good and well that someone loves you more, I don't think you can feel happy and contented when you're aware of that fact. Sooner or later, feelings of uncertainty and guilt'll surely creep up on you. But, I'm not really an expert on such matters, so don't mind me. Just let me voice out my random-as-usual thoughts. haha.

On to another subject: I super love Jack Force but he's still no match for Edward Cullen's ever so loved-fantasized-dreamed-swooned over: "Take care of my heart, I've left it with you." Awwwwwwwwwwwwww. :)

Oh and by the way, watched You Changed My Life earlier (which is somewhat related to this post) and all I can say is - Sarah Geronimo's acting's so crazy, it works! :D
